Good Morning,

Here's something new and very annoying.Cursing

I purchased the Marklin 43476 DB AG IC Bi- level car set with the matching Marklin locomotive. I've noticed that when the train speeds up, the cab control car starts to make a screeching noise that is so over powering that it drowns out the sound of the sound locomotive. The noise seems to be coming from the slider. The slider moves properly and seems to be working the way it should, so I'm at a loss as to what is causing this noise? Any remedies or suggestions as to correct this noise issue would be greatly appreciated.

Michel

Hi Michel,

Are you sure it's not the axles near the slider making the noise? Have you tried a drop of oil on the bearings?

Hi Ray,

Yes I put a drop of oil on all moving parts, thinking it could be the axel with the light controller but noise is still there.

Good morning,

As the story goes on. Yesterday afternoon I removed the car body to have a closer inspection of the cab car. Simple procedure, remove the car diaphragm and then remove the front bumpers, lift up the passenger compartment. While putting the frame back onto the tracks I noticed that without the passenger compartment attached to the frame that the frame has no ridigity which actually causes the slider under the bogie from shorting out on the turnout.

So back to square one. The problem is noise from the slider which is a scraping sound with a tick tick tick when it goes over the track. The second noise is a high frequency squeal coming from the changeover mechanism for the cab lights.

I tried to oil, bend and open up the clearences on both the slider and changeover mechanism and still the noise persists.

So what to do;

Give up! (Not my nature!)
Get help from Marklin-users.net (HELP!)

BTW I have compared it with other cab cars that I have and there is no comparison to the noise level!!!!!!!!!

Regards,

Michel

I assume you are using C-track and the old slider are noisy for this track, before C-Track with K-Track the pukos had been arranged sideways giving more support for the slider but now they are parallel with the track (C-track) I have been using Roco sliders which do not have a hole in the middle but others may have a different idea.

Hi John,

I'm only using K track. I wonder if it might have to do with this being a Marklin Start Up product?
