Hi everyone
I read an article sometime ago that had a worksheet that helped you to calculate power supplies and boosters required for a Marklin layout
Can anyone provide me with any advice guidance and how to calculate and what items need to be considered to correctly determine the needs
A simple worksheet will be great
thanks
Andrew

Hi Andrew,

I designed my layout with the assumption of 1 Ampere per moving locomotive and 0.1 Ampere per lit wagon (moving or stationary).
23 lit trains of each 6 wagons equals 23x6x0.1 = 13.8 Ampere
A maximum of 4 trains would move simultaneously => 4 Ampere
Total 17.8 Ampere. I use boosters with 2.5 A output max which made me use 8 boosters to be on the safe side.

Worked out nicely.

Best regards,
Gregor

Thanks for the reply
that's helpful

Do you have a basic circuit diagram to show how to separate my Marklin layout into respective power districs to add the boosters and connect to the central station

I want to learn and put the right things in place on my layout

Appreciate any help

thanks

Hi Anoden,

I am not familiar with the Marklin architecture for CS and boosters as I use a different system. If you download the user manual of the CS you use, it will show how to add boosters.
Maybe if you share which CS you use (part number), other members might be able to help you.
