Hello all, I've joined this forum so that I can find out some more information about this at rolling stock that I have. I recently acquired it all through an estate sale, but the only thing I know about it is that it is all old and possibly from the 70s. Due to it being incompatible with my layout, I have decided to sell it all on eBay. The first engine and tender soul pretty well. It's identification number on the side was 94 119. I saw only one other on eBay at the time and that's how I learned that it was from the 70s. The rest of it however, I have not been able to find and hopefully you guys can help me find out more about it. I'm sorry if this is the wrong form section for this but this is the best place I know of for this.

The 1st engine and tender I have a question about has the number 3673 and on the side of the tender it says K. BAY STS. B. I don't know anything else about this engine or tender. The second one at the moment, is a box car that is red in color with a rounded silver top. It has a third rail contact plate on the bottom, and on one of the ends it looks like it has a red light that lights up. Other than that, I don't know anything else about it.

I will add photos tomorrow. Please help me if you can, and thank you.

Greetings and welcome to the forum!

I guess you are referring to Marklin products all the time, which makes the search just a bit easier.
Also,i guess the scale is H0 1/87 and not N 1/160 or Z 1/220.

The steamer with number 3673 has been issued in various versions, different colors, analogue or digital steering.
Is it entirely black,or darkgreen or lightgreen?
It is a nice machine and hopefully without damage.
The letters on the tender refer to the Royal Bavarian State Railways, this was before all German local railways were incorporated into the Deutsche Reichsbahn Gesellschaft which lasted till 1945.
Most members on this forum have one.
Here an oversight in German, look for series 18.4:

This steamer is the famous Bavarian series S 3/6,considered one of the most beautiful German steamers.

The boxcar with third rail contact and red lamp is probably Marklin 4411,in production for decades already.

Cheers,
Paul (Private 1st class 1976-77).

Yep, the S 3/6 is a very nice looking loco of which I have 6, but I think my favourite steam loco s are the C class -My favourite ones are # 3311 and 3511 in that very attractive two tone paint livery. They have unclutered boilers unlike some steam locos. Take care Eddie Cool Cool

I have the 3092,the very first version in black.
Used to have the Rhinegold version with golden chimneyring, and sold it,oeps.
The initial versions are lacking the footsteps at the cylinderblocks, the 3092 does not have them.

Hi Paul , you know I never noticed that about the steps at the cylinder blocks and have just checked mine now. It goes to show what can be missed when checking out locos. My older # 3092 is green . Take care Eddie

Thank you for the responses and warm welcome! Here are a few photos of the two in question. Sadly, this engine isn't in as nice condition as the 94 119 was.

Hi,

The 3092 (green S3/6) you might be able to give away for parts as it certainly appears to have zinc pest, the 4411 (I assume) box car might go for a ten'er.

Just my opinion though. Best of luck with them.
Sad when its cheaper to buy a new 29640 starter set from Germany than a CS2 on its own in Oz, welcome to the joys of Marklin down under .

Looking at the state of the S 3/6,may i respectfully suggest you throw it in the bin?

In case you would be interested to buy one yourselves,my favorite is the 3111,the Belgian version of the S 3/6,the real thing was confiscated by the Belgians in 1918 at the end of WW1.

Hi Paul, yes the 3111 Belgian S 3/6 in brown is a very attractive loco. I have 2 of them and both run like well oiled machines.I like the red on the tender lights. It almosts makes up for not having any lights. Take care Eddie. Cool Cool BigGrin BigGrin

Eddie,

I like the golden laterns and the peculiar "liver" color,it has a royal touch, almost.

Compare with the Belgian P8 from set 2701:

Thank you both for your help, if anything I'll probably just sell it for parts, as somebody may be looking for the tender. I'll be sure to come back with photos of more cars and the third engine when I'm ready to sell them!
