Hi,

The loco is one I was hoping to add to my tiny collection at some point, which I still can from Ebay etc of course, but just surprised to see Marklin's website saying No longer in production, as it seemed like such a winner. I wonder why they do these things?

Thanks

It's a one-time series. They take pre-orders, fulfil the pre-orders, maybe make some more - and then it goes out of production.

Some unpaid voluntary company advisers say they should make each model at least for three years, better five years, to make much more profit. So far Märklin didn't obey and one-time series usually appear in one catalogue only.

Tom

Hi,

The problem is I wasn't quite planning on buying one *now* but maybe next year... And I'm still trying to decide between that and a V60 as a shunter for my layout. The V60 would be the correct era but I like the BR80 and it could be used for other things than shunting such as pulling a set of 4107s or the 48779 beer set...

Also, my first train as a kid was the 3000 :-)
