Hi Stephen,
This is also a feature of all the MFX decoders in 6096xx series, which are used to convert analogue locos.
These were released to market around 2010 maybe?

regards
Kimball

Thank God for that! Having Märklin shipping its locomotives with DCC decoders it's a wise move.

Not everybody likes mfx (including myself).

Yes.
The decoders sold separately allow to disable mfx in the decoder.
I hope the factory-installed decoders will also have this feature.

The decoders they recently used for Trix locos have mfx and DCC, but mfx cannot be disabled. That's a massive restriction IMHO.

Hi all,

I am in the progress of separating my locomotive stock in MfX and DCC. I got several DSB locomotives (Hobbytrade, Roco etc. and I am getting very limited program options if running them in MfX mode.

As I have recently had issues with CS3 programming DCC decoders I am planning a different approach using the Friewald Train Programmer software. This requires a DCC compatible decoder.

So to ensure I can easily program these locomotives I want to disable the MfX or M4 (in case of Esu decoders). So in this regard I have a few questions.

Correct that you can disable MfX in 60942 decoders used for conversion?
Can you disable M4 in the newer ESU Loksound M4 decoders?
With Roco or Zimo decoders supporting MM and DCC only I assume it can just be registered as DCC decoder and with no auto registration in MM format there shouldn't be any conflicts later on?

Thank you in advance!

Yes. You have to use DCC or MM to disable mfx, so use a controller without mfx (or with deactivated mfx).

I never had a loco with a Roco decoder.
I always set a DCC address > 255 and thus the decoder no longer responds to MM anyway.
