Hi just joined the forum. I am unsure how to use the k83 decoders with the 60215 CS. I have k83 decoders, 6015 Booster/Transformer combinations and I am looking at upgrading and purchasing the 60215 CS. I have 24 turnouts and about 180 ft (= 54 m) of track. Can anyone point me in the right direction if it is possible to use my old digital with the new CS? I am not sure if the CS can power this amount of track and accessories.

I run my layout with 20 turnouts and 8 semaphore signals with the great 6021 and 7 k83 decoders without any problem for a lot of years.I bought the CS2 last November,i disconnect the 6021,connect the CS2 and in five minutes the layout worked again perfect without any problem.I believe you will not have any problem too.Your layout is not so big to need a booster running the CS2 system.I am not the perfect digital expert, just my opinion.BigGrin

Hi Steven,

Welcome to the forum.

I have a similar sized layout to yours, approximately 50 m length of track. I also converted from a 6021 to a CS2 60215 about a year ago. I have at least 10 K83s on my layout and have no problem with a single power supply feeding the CS2 and the K83s. However, I have converted most of my turnout lighting to LEDs and wherever possible rewired them along with most of my signals to get power from a lighting transformer. Therefore, the K83s only consume digital power for the momentary switching.

So far I do not use a booster, and have had up to 4 trains running concurrently.

Cheers
Peter

Peter. Thanks for the reply. I am happy to hear this. So much conflicting info "out there". This is reassuring.
