Hello
Me and my family have been on vacation in Wernigerode, Germany.
There we travelled with HSB (Harzer Schmalspurbahnen) to Drei Annen Hohne and then continued to Brocken (1142 m over the sea)
With a wonderful view. BigGrin Wernigerode and all the stops on the way to Brocken all really looked just like model railroad, as if it were Faller and alike houses.

We stayed at the very nice railroad hotel Altora. Their whole layout and interior is very influenced with railroad, such as the paintings, and decor. They served all beer and drinks using a LGB train in the restaurant.
Outside the restaurant windows were the shunting yard, the operation yard with turntable and loco shed.

Hi Bertil,

Wonderful pictures! Wernigerode is a wonderful place, and one of my favorites. I was there this summer. It was the fifth time. My first visit was reported in this forum, https://www.marklin-users.net/forum/posts/t10618-Harz-narrow-gauge-railways--many-pictures.

This year I did not go all the way up to Brocken. I went off at Schierke, which is the last station before Brocken, and walked back to Wernigerode through the forest. Two days later I took a shorter ride to Steinerne Renne. Here are some of my pictures:

The train arrives at the Wernigerode Westerntor station. I stayed at a hotel in the city center, so this was the closest station for me.

Seeing the light in the tunnel. There is only one tunnel on the entire HSB railway network. It is between Hasserode and Drei Annen Hohne.

The loco is filled up with water in Drei Annen Hohne.

Wernigerode Castle.

In some trains there is an open car at the end of the train.

At the Wernigerode main station.

They are not just running steam trains, but also diesel rail cars. Both modern ones and old ones like this.

Thanks for the pics, guys.

I've only ever been there in the winter.
