The Marklin production of Maxi gauge 1 tinplate trains was truly amazing!
Within a limited time span of some 10 years a large range of locomotives, cars, coaches and complete trainsets were offered.
These trains were marketed for children who in this way could get used to the more professional Marklin Spur 1 world.

Apart from my H0 collection, which is still growing,i have one Maxi locomotive,it is the blue 3-axle Rossle in heavy tinplate.
In every aspect,i find this a true Marklin product,it is sturdy, beautifully made, with unexpected detail.
My visitors are always surprised about the weight when trying to pick it up!
This little machine puts 2 kg on the scales, that is 2 litres of Cola!

I am tempted to buy some more Maxi items for static display.
Here is a nice site giving an overview (perhaps not complete) about the Maxi productrange over the years.
