Hi!

Thanks for posting this! I live very near the Amsterdam central railway station and will for sure try to see the loco arrive or depart (or both). I presume it will be leaving in the direction of Sloterdijk? If so, do you happen to know where the locomotive will be turned in Amsterdam?

Thanks,
Sander

Sander,

No i do not know where it will be turned ("triangled" (driehoeken) is a better word).
There is no turningtable at Amsterdam,so running a triangle of tracks is the logical thing.
I have no ETA (Expected Time Arrival) at Amsterdam Central,we make a short stop at Gouda, anything between 12:00 and 13:00 hrs is my estimate.
Also ETD (Expected Time Departure) is a bit of a gamble, the 01 1075 is 75 years old, sometimes she does not feel so well and needs some special care on the way.
My last trip with her was to Cologne where we had several hours delay before departure,a broken pipe or something.

May i suggest you take a couple of pictures of this magnificant machine?
And put on your old clothes!

The Marklin 37102,a close sister, having a different cabinnumber.
Note the 5-axle tender.

In June 2014 they triangled at Amsterdam Westhavens, but do not pin me down on that!

I watch the Amsterdam web cam some times, you can see the trains, the ferries, and a few other views.

My thoughts when I saw these sailboats yesterday were: How do the ferries get across?

How the ferries got across?
Good question,i guess using the eyes, combined with just a bit of luck.
Clearly all ships were ordered to turn anti clockwise.
Nevertheless,we have watched it with some concern.

We had a wonderful trip Rotterdam/Gouda/Oudewater/Amsterdam/Gouda/Oudewater/Rotterdam.
On the way back there was a signal error at Gouda, had to wait there for 30 minutes.
Because of the new railwaytunnel at Delft,we are no longer allowed to pass there, the 01 steamer causing the fire alarms to activate!

Whilst waiting for our returntrip at Amsterdam CS,we saw ex NS 1252,this time in the colors of the Panorama Rail Restaurant.
One of the coaches is an ex DB TEE Aussichtwagen (Dome car).
The Marklin text on the sides has been altered into Marklin, genieten op het spoor/Marklin,enjoyment on rails.
For a price of Euro 175.- you get a first class dinner prepared by a Michelin star chef, whilst enjoying the countryside from the train.
Interesting concept.

SSN 01 175 on the way back to Rotterdam, full speed on a glorious summernight!
