Bought 37153 less then a year ago. Barely ran it. running it today it just stopped running. Wouldn't respond, try to reset it it. Nothing. Central station won't even recognize it. Any tips or suggestions? It is still under warranty do I send it back to Marklin, or the the store I bought it at?

Thanks Jaime

Open the body and check after if mfx decoder is correct fitted on the PCB.
Check pickup shoe is correct fitted.

Opened up the tender all the connections look good. Nothing that I can see damaged. No pin to set I think since its an mfx locomotive.

Hi
Please try to put the lok on the programming track and see if the CS2 can recognize it. I have had the same experience as you had and it worked for me when I put the lok on the prog track.

Tried that to LG, did not work. I'm kind of at a loss as to what could have happened. Running then just stopped like it went through a dirty piece of track. Even though I just cleaned it. Then just stopped. Cursing Crying Crying

LG, check if you have power from your pickup shoe to the decoder. Wire loose "Red cable" or shoe not making proper contact with brass tab. If you have an Ohm meter see if you have solid connection. If you heard no pop or blue smoke then it should be simple but MFX decoders are known to have this issue & it is usually a software issue. If you have a similar loco with similar running gear you may try swapping the decoder & see if that decoder works in another loco. Another thing you can try is to delete that loco from your data base on your central station & try again. Hope this is of some help to you.

Cheers Dave...

Hi Dave,

I checked all the connections. They look good. I'm a little to nervous to mess around with the decoder. I didn't hear a pop or blue smoke. I think I'm calling the retailer today and see what he has to say.

Thanks Jaime

Try to pull out the decoder from the PCB.
Insert back decoder again.
Attention!
No power switch on allowed when you check the decoder!!

Can only be a loose connection.
Sometimes some oxydation of contacts can occur (is likely since you did not use it for a long time)
But there have been occurrences of poorly soldered or damaged wires, so having a knowledgeable dealer looking at it is a good idea.
Remember also, since you live in the SF Bay Area, to check with ETE, local chapter has a number of longtime Märklin enthusiasts and knowledgeable people in their ranks

Good luck

Thank you jvuye. I sent it to the dealer today. Honestly I just don't trust my self with it. So best to send it to the dealer. I would have waited till ete but since it's still under warranty I thought it best after two g to then to send it back. Once again Reynauld's is providing outstanding service!

Thanks for all the help guys!
