Greetings

Update:

Members helped me open this loco:

The oil inside the motor was stiff and nasty.

It is fixed:

1. I got the shield off the motor (wow--tiny parts).
2. Cleaned the gears with white gas and compressed air
3. added a few drops of light oil
4. reassembled.
5. loco works.

Using a small screwdriver, I can turn the gears (taking care not to use too much force).

Any suggestions as to how to lubricate this little locomototive, which has been unused for perhaps 20 years?

Text for my old post is below...

I recently was given a grab-bag of Marklin goodies including Loco: BR 236: Article # 3446.

Placing the loco on test track (analog) I can hear the loco growl--a little louder as the voltage is increased.

The wheels do not want to turn when attempted manually. They definitely seem to be jammed somehow.

The loco looks like new. The slider shows signs of being used, long ago. The loco was purchased in 1994 by an enthusiastic collector; I doubt it has been run much.

1. Anyone have a manual for this loco, or anything like it so I can get the shell off?
2. Any advice as to what to look for besides some sort of junk in the gears?

Thanks,

Boxcab

Hi Boxcab,

The loco has a plastic panel on top of the front hood. You can just prize it off with a finger nail. Under this panel you will find a screw to release the body from the chassis.
