A number of years ago I had fitted a 60944 motor set with the 60962 mLD decoder to my V200. Runs so sweetly since then....but am now thinking of fitting sound?
Anyone know the item number for the Loksound decoder that will fit in the V200? Or do I stick with the Marklin mSD units....? (The diesel sounds on a friend's fitted mSD loco is not that great - rather soft, and not terribly realistic sounding). Altho the 60965 mSD that JohnVR fitted to my BR85 3309 is superb!
Many thanks, Joe

Does the 60944 use an MTC21 connector for the decoder?

If so, the ESU decoder is 64499 for the MFX, MM and DCC version. This version will need sound file 64446 for a V200 or 66432 for a V200.1.

If you do not need MFX, then 54499 will work. The sound file for that is 54446 for V200 or 56432 for the V200.1

The dealer should be able to load the sound file needed. Or if you know someone with a LokProgrammer, then you can have them load the sound file.

But I do have the obligatory (six) SBB Krocs
ECoS 50200, all FX and MFX decoders replaced with ESU V4s, operated in DCC-RailCom+ with ABC brake control.
With the exception of the passenger wagens with Marklin current conducting couplers, all close couplers have been replaced with Roco 40397.

Thanx Matt - not sure about the MTC21?? the mLD decoder has a wiring harness with a 8 pin NEM connector plug......as has the mSD decoder 60966
I do need mfx, so I presume the 64499 is what I need plus the sound fille...I only have a MS2 controller.....no dealer in the area, and all my purchases come from Modellbahnshop-lippe.
thanx, Joe

The 8 pin NEM version with MFX is 64400. Sound files are same as 64499 I referenced above. They are the same hardware, just different connectors.

Revised post to list MFX (M4) version. At first, I read you did not need MFX.

Be sure MBS-L offers the decoder with the sound file you need.

I buy my decoders here: http://store.sbs4dcc.com...SoundDecoderNEM6528.aspx
He offers worldwide shipping and when you order a decoder, there is a field where you can specify the sound file you desire.

All LokSound V4 sound files offered can be seen here: http://www.esu.eu/en/dow...ads/sounds/generation-4/
They also have a short audio file for each so you can hear what you will get.

Thanks Matt - MBS-L don't have/supply the sound files......
Are speakers included with the 64400? From the picture it looks like it?, but the text indicates otherwise?
If not, what speaker do I need?
Would you know if I can use the MS2 to "set up" the decoder in the V200? Or does one need a Central Station/ECOS?
Sorry for all the questions.....am very new to the world of sound decoders....
tx, Joe

64446 is the ref. number for the decoder with 8-pin plug and the sound of V 200.0.
66432 is the ref. number for the decoder with 8-pin plug and the sound of V 200.1.
Lippe don't have them listed, but may be able to get them for you.

Some dealers will sell you the 64400 with a sound project of your choice.

A round speaker should be included with the set.

All necessary changes can be made with an MS2.
As always in such cases, simply disable mfx in the MS2 and make the changes with DCC. Re-enable mfx when you are done with programming.
Regards
Tom

It comes with a 20 or 23mm diameter speaker with baffle.

Decoder arrived! and over the weekend Terry and I went to John VR's place where he kindly fitted the decoder in my old 1970 V200....
I am super impressed at the quality and realism of the sounds.....It has certainly given the old loco a new lease of life: So good to hear the very realistic l sounding diesel motors, squealing of the wheels around curves, train heating, brake release/set, couplers, and lots more sound effects.....in fact 22 functions all in all.....even the FD walked into the train room and exclaimed: "Now that sounds like a real diesel train!"
Now I just need to convince her that I definitely need an ECoS to reap all the benefits of the loksound decoders... Sneaky ... there goes that darn budget again....Crying
Thanks all for the "sound" advice - I am one very "happy chappy"....ThumpUp

Joe, when it comes to decoders and a highefficiency motor, there are no provisions for the motor to be connected to the decoder. ESU has 3 adapterplates (51967, 51968 and 51970) 51967 has 2 aux functions, 51968 has 4 Aux functions and 51970 has 4 Aux functions + 2 Servo, smoke unit. these adapterplates are suitable for 21 pin decoders.

the benefit you''ll get you connect the wires from the adapterplate to the various connections of the loco and by using than a 21 pin decoder its plug in and take off without having to re-solder any wires.

you would have enough connections with the 51967 adapter board (2Aux functions).
