Installing current conducting couplers when the passenger wagen is not factory prepared for them:

But I do have the obligatory (six) SBB Krocs
ECoS 50200, all FX and MFX decoders replaced with ESU V4s, operated in DCC-RailCom+ with ABC brake control.
With the exception of the passenger wagens with Marklin current conducting couplers, all close couplers have been replaced with Roco 40397.

I have been doing the same thing with the wire, soldering to the tab on the end of the coupler, but drilling that hole in the draw bar is just genius! ThumpUp ThumpUp Thanks Matt!

one thing I would be aware of, this point is the weakest point of the KKK coupling and any unforeseen pressure may ruin the draw bar, so using the thinnest wire would be my recommendation

I used ESU wire, much smaller in diameter than M's and a pin vise to drill the hole. This is actually the most substantial part of the coupler. What can't be seen in the picture is the amount of material there. The two curved parts of the mold that ride above and below the wagen frame and locate the coupler as it swings through the arc have a lot of material between them.
