I joined the "Insider Club" last year and have received several issue of the magazine (not all). I have waited over 7 months for a membership number or any other such credentials. I have contacted a Marklin Office in Wisconsin and exchanged over 8 or more e-mails and still never received the membership card. I think it not only strange that no membership credentials have been forthcoming but that the US office of Marklin appears to be unable to also resolve the matter. I like Marklin products and have used them for many years, I do not like they way they regard the USA and the customers therein, frankly it's awful and inexcusable. I feel like they took my money and simply ignore an American who requests the proper service for the money, makes me wonder, as I deal in my business, with other German companies and have never experienced similar behavior. Sorry to post this here but what else is one to do!

I joined the club eight years ago and left last year.
When I joined, it took them about six months until all membership benefits arrived in time and without inquiry e-mails. I live in Germany.

As far as I can tell they treat all customers equally. Give them time - and keep sending e-mails.
Regards
Tom

My Trix Club packages never arrive on time. Often they are about one month off schedule. This means that some of the competitions and events are over before I ever knew they existed. It does make me a bit irritated. It happens quite a lot, and the only way to change it is to make them aware of the problem. So - as Tom puts it - keep sending them e-mails.

I live in Denmark, and the normal shipping time between Denmark and Germany is three days to a week (slow moving shipments), so being off by a month is to me a choice, not accidental. Eisenbahn Kurier arrives three days from the shipping date, which is as good as it gets.

All problems aside: I enjoy my membership and I always look forward to reading the contents of the package. Märklin Magazin is the only European model railway publication available in English, which makes it easier for me to read about the trains that I like. I need to concentrate a lot more with the magazines written in German. Smile

Joined in August 2014, waited for the card for two months. Since that no single club package arrived. Sent a few e-mails - no answers.

This was a brief story of my Insidership. In other words - wasting money. Why not to answer my e-mails and explain what is happening? Sneaky

Will not prolong for the next year for sure. ThumbDown

"Down under" even, I can report much better service except for 2008 or thereabouts, they sent me an invoice instead of charging my CC, demanding payment by an expensive T/T.
So I was an outsider for a year Wink

I joined thru the USA site, in 2004, but I think it is better to join thru the German site these days.

I am soon going to have to change the C/C details they have for me. I must confess, I am a bit concerned about a glitch with that Scared

All the Insider Club stuff is handled by Germany these days, even if you register through somewhere else.

If you phone the Insider staff on the number they give on the letter reminding you that they are going to charge your card, they are very helpful. I have done it a number of times to change the expiry date, and have always had polite service on the phone. Those taking the calls seem to be suitably multi-lingual and I haven't been passed on to another operator because I was using English.

The service of Marklin Insider Club and the Marklin Magazine sucks !! I understand the problem they have with the surface mail of the Marklin Magazines and the associated delays, BUT the problem for which I have great difficulty to understand, is the payment or renewal of the subscriptions !! It would take maximum few hours to put an online payment service and migrate all Members data to an online registration and payment service. Actually, I can do it for free in my spare time and I 'm sure a lot of people in Goppingen can do it also and take us out of this misery !!! The way they still prefer to keep working in today's digital & internet era is a great mystery !!!

It does seem a bit ridiculous that, although I'm 12,000 miles away from Germany, I usually seem to be the first to report receipt of the Insider package. Other folks in NZ also receive their Insider packs before Stephen in the UK and other European based folk receive theirs.

Actually it isn't as easy as you seem to suggest. Because you are collecting and storing personal financial information from people worldwide, i.e. credit card numbers and data, the Banks would require that that data is kept in a secure manner. To obtain PCI compliance, Marklin would have to either develop that infrastructure themselves (not Marklin's core business) or find someone who could, and either way that would not come cheaply. You can't just whip something up in 'a few hours', put in on your web server that is sitting in the broom cupboard in your basement and hope for the best when you are storing credit card data. I certainly wouldn't want my data stored on such a system.

Im still waiting for current issues. It seems odd that Stevetrain has got his (late) and mine has still to arrive even though we are in the same country. You would think they would send all the issues for each country at the same time. I have sent several emails to no avail. Its strange when my membership was up last week they sent a letter 4 weeks earlier saying they would debit my account when it was due. Have to check to see if they have taken the money. Take care EddieMad Mad

Actually, is much easier than you think!!! All this sensitive information is kept by the banks nowdays, NOT the site itself, so, there is only a contract required with a clearing house (usually the IT Dept. of a bank) and the ONLY thing you have to do, is to embed some code in your site.
There is NO any excuse for Marklin for not doing that. There are millions of e-commerce sites that are doing it.
