I have show you the stamp four number '4610' on 315/1 hopper wagon box date 05/56.

Any know what year did change to catalogue ref four number? 1956-1958?

Not sure what you actually mean: Do you want to know when the article number 315/1 became article number 4610?
Maybe this link leads to the information you are after (German website, see tabular data on the right hand side):

Another hint which you are for sure aware of, the Maerklin paper box design evolution (illustrated German website):

Huh, found it!

315/1 = 1956
4610 v1 = 1957
4610 v2 = 1958-1975
4610 v3 = 1976-2009

Yes, the new numbering system came in 1957 but much stock was still available under the old numbers for a few years. Can you find the printing code on that box Steven?

The renumbering catalogue which I possess with crossreferences states that the new numbers are in force from 1 jan 1957. Printed 12/56.

Some of the numbers were then changed or missed in the 1957 cat.

Some examples:
TT800=3006
ST800MT=4019
DB800K=3023 (note not 3016)
418/1 Friedrichshafen station =7030
Rails with center rail 5000-5031
Modelrails 5040-5069

The S870 line was discontinued already in this catalogue hence no 4001 for 327/2 (the red 4000)

Hi,

The 3023 was the number for the combination of what was sold separately as 3016 and 4018 from 1957. DB800K contained both parts.

Regards

Markus
