Hi all,

I serviced my Roco MZ 1414 but now it runs with red lights at the front and white at the back!? This confuses me as I don't recall any plug-in wires...?

What have I done?

Another question, I really want to fit a little driver and possibly lighting in the cab, but can't figure out how to get the cab out? I think I need to take all the outide bits off, but how do I release the cab insert without breaking anything?

Thanks

When this happens with Z gauge locos, then the motor was installed the wrong way around.
How thoroughly did you service it? Did you take the motor out?

Didn't know Roco made any Z gauge Locos.

Tom refers to Maerklin Z scale, which like Roco HO is 2 rail DC. If the motor was removed and reinstalled with the + and - connections inverted, it would work in the opposite direction.

Hi,

The motor can't be put in wrong, I'm pretty sure, as the tabs from the print board can only touch one end of the motor. Unless I put both the motor and print board in wrong...

I'll have to take it apart again, I suppose. I can't really remember the wiring for the lighting, so I suppose I could have got that wrong.

Thanks

This can happen with symmetric plug-in motors of any gauge.

the motor can only be put in one direction and can not be switched over, you are right there, but the motor can be turned upside down.

Thanks, I finally found the time to take it apart again, and yes, the motor was upside down :-)
