So the marketing for the 60881 and 60882 was wrong (as expected)

Their catalogue statement (still seen on Marklin Shop) ...
The L88 (60883) is required for connecting this unit to the CS2!
... has been overridden with the announcement of the 60884
This is an adapter cable for connecting the new 60881 and 60882 S88 modules to the 6088 and 60880 S88 modules.

The reference to 60881 (S88 AC) was expected. The 60882 (S88 DC) is a pleasant surprise (as it might be seen to need a bit more power)

Further ..
The current S88 feedback modules can be integrated perfectly with this adapter cable into the earlier S88 feedback system.
Implies that this will also work with 6023, 6050, 6043, 60212 systems - and OEMs - and presumably the S88 port of the CS2

With a price tag of 20Euro (Marklin Shop) and no delivery date mentioned, I suspect this will be an easy homemade cable to make using a patch cable of the length devired and the pin-out information already in the 60881/2 manuals.

Just a reference to the 60884 manual available on line.
60884
or (cut n paste)
https://static.maerklin....3089ca98d41434542408.pdf

Good to see the noting of a limitation of use
- usage for old S88 connector to new S88 = OK
- new to old = Bad

Although I believe they have introduced a confusing factor by showing the "OUT" of a 60883 connected to the "OUT" of a 6088(0)
This is a double bad (Out to Out AND wrong cable).
If you had the correct cable you could go from the OUT of a 60881/2/3 to the IN of a 6088(0) !
