I was looking for a scale scissor lift for a diorama I'm building, and finding none available I decided to build one myself. I got the factory spec sheet with dimensions and started cutting brass. There are over 100 individual pieces soldered together with over 30 hours to build. I think I will build some more now that the bugs are worked out and I have some improvements in mind. The lift does go up and down but it's not motorized yet. What do you think

That look s great. Had you not stated it was custom fabricated, I would have sworn it was a kit.

Two of the inventors owned an electrical contracting business here in Cincinnati. Howard retired many years ago and Denny turned Denier Electric over to his kids a couple years back. A copy of the patent is framed in their office waiting room.

But I do have the obligatory (six) SBB Krocs
ECoS 50200, all FX and MFX decoders replaced with ESU V4s, operated in DCC-RailCom+ with ABC brake control.
With the exception of the passenger wagens with Marklin current conducting couplers, all close couplers have been replaced with Roco 40397.

Hi all,
I work as a forklift technician, so I deal with all types of lifting equipment daily. I didn't think I would build one. The soldering was no easy task, a resistance soldering station is what's needed for this type of work but with a good station and a lot of patience it can be done.

I say the same, now all it needs is a micromotor in the base to raise and lower it, and soem guys to clean windows or fix the guttering, and you will have an excellent operating diorama on your layout.

Hi all,
Thanks to everyone for the kind words, it was a bit more of a project than I anticipated. My idea to make it operational was a afterthought. my plan is to drill a small hole through the chassis and attach a hard wire rod to the bottom of the platform using a servo motor to control up and down movement similar to a semaphore signal, I don't think that will be to difficult to do.

Beautiful model Bill!

Curious about this. The patent was filed in 1969. But on the description of the file, it has multiple dates with numbers. 1960, 1962...
What does this mean? Are these dates of prototypes or actual production models prior to obtaining the patent?

Thanks again for sharing...
oh and speaking of production; you plan to make multiples, Bill, and make them available to forum members, right??

Bill all you need now is the control panel on the cradle, with red and green led's and an up and down arrow. (lol)

what amazes me from time to time people like you think outside the box and come up with these rare ideas, we had forklifts, cranes etc etc. but there is always someone who comes up with another ideas, congratulation and the model itself looks very professional, all you need is make a box for it and anybody would think you can buy it commercially
