Hello,

342 Euro for an old tooling E94?

I even didn't spent so much money for a new tooling E93 Insider.

They found a good way to reduce their overproduction of this very aged miss.

Apparently enough people are interested in "one-off" models like this that they can get away with higher prices than would seem sensible.

If they can make money like this who are we to ctiricise?

I think, as long there is a market for those models, it is OK to serve the market. Those sells are additional profit for Märklin and probably the sales will cross subsidize other models.

Personally I prefer to look at old models with C-Sinus or SDS Motor to have best driving behaviour.

Hello,

for sure. Everything is helping Märklin to make money is welcome.

That limited series like this one will gain in value with time is anyway an illusion in most of the cases so I was wondering how much people can spend that money on a very old loco without any link to the prototype.

On the market limited series like blue and black crocodile, Tin Tin TGVs, bluestar trains ecc are still available. So maybe not all these "one-off" models are well accepted from the marked.

kind regards

Stephan

That is right. If somebody wants to buy the loco it is his problem,it is his wallet and he can spend his money the way he want.I do not like the black model,i do not buy it,this is my way too.It is so simple.BigGrin

Same here. I like also C-Sinus, SDS and Faulhaber etc. motors. I have bought mostly 5-15 year old high-end models as second hand items with much better price. They are basically unused mostly.

One black fantasy Ce 6/8 II Crocodile (37567) is enough for me. If I will ever buy another black fantasy electric loco it will then be 39564 older version of black Ce 6/8 III Crocodile. It is maybe also more collectable than 37567 is. These fantasy Crocodiles look good when running as red wheels in black loco is good color combo in my opinion.

Black E94 will be at least different and we will see how it's value will raise if it ever does. Nowadays there are too many One-Time Series and limited runs made. It will have an effect in me to be less interested in them. Almost all can be found from eBay later if needed.

Regards,
Janne

Hi Moritz and Janne,

I'm with you on C Sine & SDS ThumpUp

I'm not interested in any black fantasy models at all, unless they're a steam engine. Wink

Could you imagine a Dampf lok painted traffic red Scared yuk ThumbDown That said I love my 05's but they're dark red Cool

But a black E lok doesn't look that bad, but I've plenty of Black and red Dampf Loks so like some colour on my E loks even if it's only Green or Dark Blue Smile However Dark red and cream is a very nice livery for an E lok or even a diesel Woot
IMHO

I must admit the Insider 10 year membership Br10 doesn't appeal for colour, but apparently it was a design study for the end colour when they were being built. Not sure if it is what is now known as traffic red, I think it is a bit brighter than that.

Hi everybody,

I've just noticed this by accident. Is it definitely a fantasy livery? If yes, does anybody know why the dealers have ordered that model from Märklin? As far as the black Swiss Crocodiles are concerned there was originally a link to a prototype. In 2009, Märklin intended to sponsor a temporary black livery for a Swiss Crocodile, but the plan had to be cancelled due to lack of funds. The first black Märklin model had already been planned, so they went ahead with that anyway, despite the fact that the corresponding prototype never appeared on the rails. Nevertheless, there would have been a real black Crocodile if Märklin hadn't become insolvent in that year.

I don't suppose that there was a similar project for a German E 94, so what's the point of releasing the 37229? I don't mind if Märklin sells this and makes money on it, and it actually looks cool if you like black as a colour. Probably it's (one of) the last old tooling E94 models, but as some people have said here, even a limited edition of 999 locomotives will be hard to sell if it's a fantasy model.

The Tintin TGV didn't sell for other reasons: to start with, railcars and high-speed trains are generally more difficult to sell than locomotives, especially if they are long and expensive, the price was very high, and 2,500 trains were simply too many. It's being sold at big discounts now ...

Best regards,

Mark
Best regards, Mark

I like Märklin items produced in the 1960s or early '70s, but also digital locos & current rolling stock.

And the Thalys from which the Tintin model is derived was a model known to have problems with the wheels falling off ... Scared

I need some convincing to get this Black E94 #37229. But at EUR379.50 = AU$560.00 plus postage it is way over the top. I have the CE6/8 37567 & it looks great in black & despite it being a fantasy loco it is still most collectable. How many of you are going for this loco?

Hello Steven,

it is a pity they did not offer this model as in the #37870 E93 insider model. That would make all the difference & I would be in boots & all. There is so much more detail in this model & not to mention the smooth running quality & sound option. My usual dealer in DE is "Lippe" as his postage is normally half of the others & he packs really well so all arrives in tact.

#37870
