Hi
I was looking at eBay Germany last night and noticed an unusual empty box with number RS841K. I have never seen a boxed set in this type of box. Normally they would be in the usual leather look a like red box. Could this be an original PX box.

Hi Roger
In the early post war days, there were no fancy boxes!
Just the basics
This one is for an RS 800 with a rake of 341/x coaches
In my opinion this is pre-1949. AFAIK the fancy ones appeared in 1950.
These cardboard boxes were made locally at Marklin and were used for transformers, accessories and track etc. even up to 1954.
Hope this helps
Cheers

Jacques
Thanks for the info. I've got a couple of starter red boxes from the 40's and every pre war box I have seen are the red ones. Bearing in mind that the last RS800 was produced in 49. There is currently a red one up for auction with the 3 coaches on EBay de.
