MARKLIN CCS-800 EARLY VERSION.
First post for me here, I guess all good things have a beginning.

I have recently come across an early version Marklin CCS-800.
The Crocodile is in very good condition with virtually no signs of zinc-pest on the main frames, motor housing, and outer painted housings. Paint is in outstanding condition. Only the front and rear bogies are questionable and most likely will need replacement.
Upon gently removing the bodies I discovered the
wiring to be in disarray. Apparently sometime in the past some repairs were attempted with a less than professional result.
What I am asking is, if anyone has any photo's of an early CCS-800 with the correct wiring depicted, showing how everything is wired together:
motor, reversing mechanism, step switch for lighting direction, lights, power pick-ups.
Any help would be profoundly appreciated.BigGrin BigGrin
Regards,
Adrian

Hi Adrian, welcome aboard.

You could start by delving into this older thread....

Specifically page 18, message #889 for an interesting cut-away view

I thank those of you that posted a reply. I already have been though the majority of pages and posts here and on other sites regarding a CCS-800.1 and .2.
Very limited amount accurate of information and photos. Hard to believe anyone out there doesn't have a photo of a CCS-800.1 with the housings removed, as to show the type of reversing mechanism and wiring. I have a pretty good idea of what it should be, but don't want to spend $125.00 on a unit and have it be the incorrect one. That would not make me very happy. I have a few units from other older locomotives but their construction being on the larger side do not lend themselves nicely for a retrofit due to size restrictions imposed by the Crocodile hoods.
I have found a few photos of a version 2 showing the reverse mechanism. True to the time period it is the correct installation. The version one CCS-800 I believe had a Series 800, Type 2 reversing mechanism which was produced between 1940/41 through early 1947. Hence the dilemma, these units seem to big for the space requirements of the hoods. Any help would be appreciated.... GREATLY....!!!!!

I was able to find some old photos of CCS 800 parts that I had (unfortunately now sold). These should help you, parts for CCS 800 version 1 through 3 are all pretty much the same.

Photos from this auction may also help: http://www.ebay.de/itm/M...-original-/390974124628?

Let me know if you're looking for something else or need help

Best,

Paul
