Greetings, Mulldog.

Thanks for the great photos.

I was actually in Canberra yesterday. I drove down with some friends from Sydney for the Canberra Model Railway exhibition at the High School at Kaleen. We do this trip every year. One day, we will have to try and make some time to see the Museum as well.

Talk about sad,

I lived in Canberra for 5 years and never knew there was a rail museum
Sad when its cheaper to buy a new 29640 starter set from Germany than a CS2 on its own in Oz, welcome to the joys of Marklin down under .

Gee mate.. I have never lived in Canberra and I knew about it.. Stop spending your weekends spying on the Russian embassy and get out and about in the car.. LOL There's also a great airfield a short drive up the road in Temora - Spitfires, Vampires and other awesome planes. You live in a fantastic part of Australia. Of course, they DO say that locals make the worst tourists. I remember a certain group of Swedes that did not know about the archaeological site under a Cafe in Lund until three Aussies found it for them.. Laugh

Lived Adrian,

The better half spat the dummy big time about the cold in 96, been in the Hunter ever since. Next stop Yeppoon.

Yeah did the rounds of all military museums every time we had visitors from out of town.

A bit off topic.... I'm watching the series 'Outback Truckers' on Discovery.

Marco,

Without a word of a lie, what you see on that show is nothing compared to over half the country.

In my younger days I travelled around Oz twice and in western Qld, the NT and WA you can literally drive (ride in my case) for days without seeing anyone. Go roughly 300km inland from any point on the coast and there is more or less nothing. Scared

Wow !
Well, to put things in perspective; Holland (aka the Netherlands) is from north to south 300 kilometers long and from east to west 200 kilometers wide.

We have digressed a wee bit but, just to give you a idea;

MAP of Australia

The green bits are "more or less" green (some of the time) and the brown bits are pretty much "always" brown Blink

The scale in the bottom right should be set at 500km.......... gives you a bit of a idea of how big and empty 80% of this country is Sad

Oh thanks for those great pic's from the Canberra museum Mulldog , still remember those big Beyer Garrett's hauling coal and long freight in Qld as a kid BigGrin

Come on down here Marco and we can do a road trip with some fishing rods.. All you have to do is to remember to drive on the left hand side of the road and sit in the right hand seat.. Laugh
