Hi John,

Luckily I have been inoculated both by a general anti-electrics vaccine and the UP-only vaccine, so I can face the challenge confidently wink

Thanks fellas,
On the basis of the previous posts, I don't think I'll bother with a whistle. I haven't been inoculated, and Märklin will at some stage offer a whistled model, with a different number, so I'll be forced to buy it anyway!

not a very good photo, but there is a real thing

so the Classis Lionel locomotive is at least loosely based on an actual locomotive. its located at the Illinois RR Museum near Union, IL. about half way between Rockford and Chicago. Its jammed in between many other locos, and most in this section are not in good condition.

here's another example of the Lionel NYC croc/gator
this one is at the St Louis Transportation musuem. its kept in a little better condition - maybe had a coat of sherwin williams in the last 50 years?

and here's some sort of baby gator/croc that is a little out of place. its also at the St Louis Transportation museum. The plaque said its an Italian loco.
FS E.550.025 is what the placard said on the side of the cab.

it was the lone non-US train at that museum.

Svein, while you are at it, you might as well go digital. It could do with the latest decoder with whistle. biggrin
But the real question will be what colour to paint it.

Hi Lutz,
That is an excellent model for HO scale. Looking closely at the connecting rod bearings, and the buffer beam details, it is almost to be expected in fine scale O.
Thanks for the catalog, interesting reading.

Hi Lutz they look great thanks for the pics - so the delivery has started on these - Hopefully I will get my set soon.[:p][:p]
What does the display box/cabinet look like? I hope it is not a big heavy thing that can get damaged during shipping.. Our shipping chaps here are a bit heavy handed on the parcels....[:(]

Hi Armando,

As I understand it , there is a second release of the 31859 set, new
# 31860, limited to 500 sets. As I understand it the only difference
is that it will have no sequential numbering as set 31859 does.
Price from RJF IF he gets it is US$2600.00. The black crocs are about
800 - 850.00 I think.

Jeremy.
Jeremy.

2). The early bird may get the worm, but it's the second rat that gets the cheese.

Hi Jeremy,

Would you be so kind to post a link where I could read up on this mysterious new set, including the black crocodile? Unless I'm looking in the wrong places, I haven't been able to find any information on the Märklin site or on RFJ-Trains, Lokshop, Eurorailhobbies, Euro Model Trains, etc. sites.

Thanks!!!!

According to the information given in Christian Zellweger's book on the Ce 6/8 II and the Ce 6/8 III, the Ce 6/8 III was the last locomotive series leaving the factory in brown livery.
Exact data on when SBB changed to green don't seem to exist anymore.
However around 1929 more and more locomotives are painted green (Tannengrün).

<br />I'm curious about something... From what year on were crocodiles painted in green livery?

According to the information given in Christian Zellweger's book on the Ce 6/8 II and the Ce 6/8 III, the Ce 6/8 III was the last locomotive series leaving the factory in brown livery.
Exact data on when SBB changed to green don't seem to exist anymore.
However around 1929 more and more locomotives are painted green (Tannengrün).

Thank you for the tip about the crocodile book.
Best regards,
Armando García

In January NEW M said quarter II. Now in July still nothing on the rise.
Wonder what's so difficult in making a bread & butter model from year 1964.
But then those "super-managers" [xx(] have fired most of the brave old workers ...

John, I'm still waiting for 37993 BB to arrive. Supposed to be this month. I see it is orange traffic light on the M Product database.
