Hi
I've just purchased WinTrack 6.1 in the hope of using it for HO and G1. Unfortunately I already have a plan that I created in another non-train related program that I want to use as a template.
Does anyone know how I can import this information?
I have spent a great deal of time on the other layout and am hoping to use it- at the very least as an image underlay.

ANy advice would be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks

Kris

I use Raily 4 - perhaps the other program has an export function into something like DXF or even HPGL ?

According to WinTrack it is possible to import a track plan by using the import function in the "Datei"(Data) menu.

I use WinTrack 6.0 and don't think you can use an image as underlay. The import command can only import .tra files from Track/DOS.

hi all,

I agree with George. There is no add-on for your problem.

I confirm, wintrack can import only its old version layout.
The export instead can be bmp dxf wmf and jpg.
You must redraw all...[V]

Raily can import DXF and a format 3DS (not heard of that one).. Given the price of Wintrack it seems reasonable that it should at least import DXF..

I don't know Raily, but wintrack recognize each track piece as an object and manage it in its database and for 3d rendering. I think that it's the reason because it don't recognize a dxf file which is a vectorial draw and there isn't a standard common codified drawing for every track.

Using a bitmap (or a jpg for that matter) as a background in WinTrack is feasible, but it's something it's software developers have to think maybe for their next version. I think it is not so simple because there should also be a method of specifying the scale of the bitmap.

By the way, you could take a look at http://www.trainplayer.com/layouts_101.htm
which is a simple but effective program for layout operation simulation using jpg files as background. Nothing to do with WinTrack, but interesting anyway.
