Hi all,

Here's my latest analog Loco purchases, we have...

Loco's 3111, 3000, 3064, 3031, 2 unboxed 3021's (V200 027) and Set 3121.

I've already counted the 2 unboxed 3021's, so my analog Loco total is now 75.

Ian.

I have only 3...... but one of them means the world to me!

3003 BR 24
3043 RC1 Lok
3090 Tanklok

The 3090 was part of my first trainset.....together with 2x 404 wagons and some other things. More followed at various x-mas's. Smile

The 3003 BR 24 was given to me in Germany by my parents, I think in 1982. We bought in Hannover I think....

The most special loco I have is the 3043. It was given to me by my dad as a "well done" on some swimming tasks in 1984. Unfortunately I no longer have the original boxes, but the locos are in perfect conditiions and run perfectly!

As for digital loco's, the number now stands at 126..... Blushing

my total analog collection consists of 4 locos and they'll be converted in due course (when time permits) but this total number could change without notice, as I do discover the odd analog loco from time to time.

1 x 3000
1 x 3060
2 x 3029

Maybe a bit too much $$$ on ebay, but now at 18 analog out of 26 total. I'm still adding staples like 3075 (CL216) to my collection...

What is the advantage of digital over analogue?

Also, someone said the C tracks are better than the M tracks? Why?

So that you know, I have just started getting back into the trains hobby after a short absence of only 44 years. This is a fact.

Thank you for any responses.

With digital operation you have a lot of sounds, lights and other functions, better running perfomance. The locos now is more complicated and difficult to fix if is something goes wrong. All the tracks are nice, the track you are using i think is a matter of taste. You absence i think is very long for our hobby. This forum will be very helpful for you if you decide to come back.

With M track anything can rust, with C track only the centre rail can rust.

If you use the tracks on the floor: C track will just snap open undamaged when pressure comes from the side (talkin' 'bout production years 2002 and later) while M track snaps open on one side only, on the other side the rail will bend.
This may not make a difference if tracks are used by adults - but for floor layouts with children (or cats) around, C track is better.

Tom

Hi all,

The opportunity popped up for me to purchase 6 old Marklin locomotives.
I just love these old masterpieces, so I bought them all.

I already have 2 X Class 01 locos, but another one will look good !
I also already have 3 x Class 23 locos, but another one will look good too !
I already have a green E41 loco, but a different colour scheme will look good.
Actually, I do not have the others, so I am quite happy enough to get these, especially the german crocodile.

When I put them on the track, I found the little shunter had a TELEX with DELTA, and the E41 Electric also has a decoder chip.
So these I can run in digital mode using 6021.
I have ordered Decoders for the others.

Enjoy these :

Following loco already dismantled for checking which decoder is required !

UserPostedImage

Once these are converted, then I shall have about 25 Locomotives with Digital/Delta control, and about 5 Analog locos (all 3000 locos).
For info, I have only bought 1 locomotive with a decoder installed.
1 locomotive I had a decoder installed by the technician at my local store.
For the remainder, I have done (or will have done) all of the decoder installations by myself !

Actually, it dawned upon me that I have purchased 3 locos with Digital/Delta decoders installed - my ICE II starter set, the brown Ce 6/8, and Re 4/4, and now another 2 in this batch. My DB103 was converted by the technician.
Then, I think I have converted the rest myself.

Ian, That's a sweet pile of locos you have been scooping up! Since you just said analog...

I have about 125 Lionel O locos with 115 being conventional or analog.
1 Lionel 00 Hudson
18 American Flyer in O and S
6 Marx in O
3 MTH in O
1 Russian Stalin train set in O
21 Athearn in HO
and ...

2 Marklin HO... a 3098 and a 34161
1 Trix Twin 0-4-0 tank engine

And I am on the hunt for more Marklin HOThumpUp

All but one of my loco's are analogue:

1 x BR01 (3048)
1 x BR12 (3310)
1 x BR23 (3005)
1 x BR38 (3098)
2 x BR50 (3084)
1 x BR74 (3095)
1 x BR78 (3106)
2 x BR89 (3000)
1 x BR98 (3104) - not sure about the numbers on this one, one of those that came with the starter sets.
1 x V200 (3021)
1 x V216 (3075)
2 x ? (3090)

1 x BR24 (36240) - not analogue and my only new Marklin item (Maybe this one needs to find a home with other 'younger' whipper-snappers)

15 vs 1 ThumpUp

Don't have an interest in going digital at the moment.

(portfolio to follow when I get around to photographing rather than playing Wink )

Hello,

At the moment I have 62 analog Märklin locos and most of them will stay analog.

At the moment I have 70 Delta or digital locos + one digital steam loco sound DB post waggon.

My latest purchases from Finland have been all analog locos which I'm not going to convert. I will only collect these and they will stay most of the time in my display cases. But some little running seldom is good for these too.

Next (when I get more money) RollEyes there is coming locos from Germany. Analog 3317 to my french steam loco collection, 3092 digitalised with 6080, 3318 digitalised with 6080, analog (or digitalised?) 3414 SNCF also to my french steam loco collection, Delta 3417 NSB, Delta S 3/6 33185 and digital S 3/6 37186. As You all can see I collect also different S 3/6 based locos from different countries and versions. One of the most beautiful steam locos ever!

So next the balance will go even more towards digital. If I would update CS2 with that version 3.0.X.X that has 25 locos per page and not 30 like in my current software version there would then be three full pages of locos. I have seen some warnings at this wonderful site that there will be problems though with DCC locos when running that SW version and I will stay with current version 2.0.X.X something... More room for locos on these three pages (15 more as total is still 90 then).

I should really concentrate to layout building and landscaping and stop buying more locos... Wink

Cheers,
Janne
Märklin H0 digital layout. I have analog and digital H0 Collection. Rolling stock mostly from era I, II, III and IV. Märklin 1 gauge beginner.

Thanks Ian.

Yup, only one 3005, nice loco but if I had a choice I'd have many more BR50's. By comparison to many of the collections here, I am still trying to get the first of many loco's I would like nevermind second or third.

As Janne says, maybe I should work on a layout of some sort rather than just collecting, btw all except three of those loco's were bought in 2012.

Very nice James. ThumpUp

I have a few old analogue locos which I will not convert, but most of my collection now is either digital from new or analogue converted to digital. I currently have 5 locos still analogue:

CM800 Br89
3001 E63
3005 Br23
Blue/cream E44 from the Primex 2702 set
Green/black 3029 from the Primex 2760 set

The last one might get converted to digital soon.

Thanks for the comments guys, and Steven, you have sharp eyes. Wink

The story behind the missing buffer regards to a little boy who stole the locomotive to take to show and tell one day (stolen because his father said not to) and while at the show and tell, the locomotive suffered a drop to the floor at which time the buffer became bent. The fact that the buffer is now missing is that I have discovered a website (TT Marklin Eratzeil) that offers parts for older Marklin locomotives and I will replace it ASAP. Until then, it's on display as this is one locomotive that will never be converted.

It still runs since I just had it out of the display case and ran it on a test rack.ThumpUp

Best Regards to all Smile

James
