First official run for 2013, day after Australia DayWub Love

Had a couple of surprise members attend.

Tony from Naracoorte (about a three hour drive) dropped in to show off his "Christmas" pressies.

And from way out in the bush, Leith, Dale's dad decided to drop in and see for himself the new third high speed track ( and have a rest from baby sitting Dale's kids while Dale was having a game of Golf in Canberra where he is stationed).

We were even graced by our very first club secretary from way back in 1971, KarlThumpUp . Unfortunately Karl decided to go over to the 'dark side' - DC - after a few years of being a member. His reason you ask? Well back in the early seventies speed control on the transformers wasn't up to the level it is now. Karl loves prototypical running, so the slower (at times) the better. Märklin couldn't offer that to him back then, but DC could (so he saysRollEyes ). So Karl got rid of all his K track and points and started investing in two railThumbDown . But we forgive him, as he is now impressed with what the club has got and how far it has come and is considering of re-joiningWoot

We also had the usual suspects attending as well.

OK, let's go to the video tapeThumpUp

The first one is the Märklin 2866 set - the Junkers Airplane transport - analogue but soon to be digitized.

Next comes the first of Tony's pressies, the T18 KPEV with the specially produced compartment cars.

Now for Tony's other pressie, the 96 019 DRG BR96

This is a fairly long videoRollEyes (for our club standards that is) so grab yourself a drink and some munchies and settle back and enjoy.

The reason for both of Tony's locos pulling the consists 'backwards' is that he was so excited and eager to get them onto the track, that he placed them on the wrong tracks, thus having a left hand drive system.............not on our club layoutMad Mad Mad . But it really doesn't matter as both are tank engines and can go 'either' wayFlapper BigGrin Laugh

And to round off the running Helmut's BR 53 with the tub style tender crossing the new proposed bridge structure.

Speaking of crossing the bridge, here's a couple of videos showing a BR 45 with a string of old time beer wagons and an ICE 3 shooting across.

Until next time, good runningThumpUp ThumpUp ThumpUp

Thanks Dusan for posting those videos.
Some good work is being done to the layout.
Grape harvest is about to start in the next 2 weeks so I hope to make a trip up after that.
Dale are you going to be home for the exhibition?
I'm planning on doing the whole weekend, so it would be good to catch up again.

What do you think the g-forces are on the passengers on the high speed train when it hit the curves at the end of the board?

well Dion is back so he has your box load to work on along with all the other stuff that arrived
in while he was away on holiday . We had about 25 guys for club meeting last friday night
which was out at Dions place seeing his 4 meter x 4 meter "service dept test track "!!! with about 20 locos and
buildings and faller car system its amazing what we have to test for folks BigGrin BigGrin BigGrin
but after all the guys had run their locos it was about 12.15am !! but great fun
Well good to see all your club guys having a good time, we just enjoy the time together its amazing what the
quakes have done for making us just enjoy the simple things of life.

Thanks Bryan, waiting with anticipation to run them on the club layout.ThumpUp Woot

Anyway, for our first Friday night for 2013 we decided to go analogue. So we hooked up a grey transformer and let them ripBigGrin ThumpUp

First out of the station 3092 S 3/6 K.Bay.Sts.B with, most probably, the wrong rake of coaches, but the consist did look good.

Next up was a very sick 3009 BR 44 069 which managed to just make it around the layout. That's one that definitely needs some urgent TLC

Then out came the 3008 BR 01 097, this one was even sicker than the BR 44.

to their credit, they haven't been used for the past 20 years, I thought I'd give them a run and see how the performed.....not too good by the looks of the videos. Looks as though Bryan and Dion will be getting some more work going their wayThumpUp

Back to healthy locos, 3094 BR 03 1051 streamlined, with again possibly the wrong coaches.

To finish off the analogue run, 3080 Industrial diesel moving some museum stock (84212).

Then we went back to digital running.

Began with the digital version of the S 3/6 K.Bay.Sts.B, 37181

Next the Schöfferhofer consist (36890) gets another run

Then Helmut"s Märklin 3652 Delta Croc got a run. Pay attention to the last wagon........ain't it beautifulLove Love Love Love Love

We'll finish off with another couple of bridge crossings, first the Ae 8/14 with a nice consist of beer cars

and then the TGV

until next time, happy running

Thanks Marco,

The camera I use is a Sony HDR-PJ10E which has a self stabilisation system, or as Sony calls it 'optical steady shot/active mode', so it compensates for any erratic movement on my behalf.

It also helps that I have done it over a hundred times so far,BigGrin and I try to keep the speed of the loco manageable so I don't trip, although, as you can see, I sometimes totally miss the engineBlushing. That's why at the club they call me SpillbergLaugh

While visiting Christchurch last January, I dropped off some of my analogue locos for them to be digitized.

Well they came back last week and this was the first change I had to run them.

Here are the first three.

BR 85 that went the 'whole hog', Mfx, sound, lights (and I added the smoke unit).

Next, a beat up old BR 53 that I got for a steal, just a decoder and two smoke units, and boy can they smoke.

The last steamer, the BR 44 150 year Special. Again the 'whole hog'. Keep an eye in the background of the Smokin' BR 53, looks like a bushfire broke outLaugh

To finish off the running time, a BR 601 ten car unit.

I didn't get a chance to run the other three as at the moment I'm deep to my armpits with scenery, glue, paint and ideas in trying to get the layout completed for the June long weekend exhibition.

Hopefully next Friday I'll be able to give the other three a run.

On a slightly different matter, the last week in April was birthday week. First mine and then my wife's ( a big one....60).

So the whole family was over to celebrate, and when the 'boys' come over first question was Deda can we play trains?

And the answer has to be Yes!

So I had to come up with quick layout, and this is the result.

The model railroaders in that lot will be my son's and daughter's eldest sons Josh and Sean (even though Sean was more interested in the plate of biscuits, making sure he ended up with the mostBigGrin ).

Until next time, enjoy.

Hi Dusan
wow what great videos and that 53 sure puts out the smoke eh
after Dion had popped them in we ran it up and down here and the test

built and kept changing all night , and some younger guys had brought a
pile of M track so that was setup as well and they were having a ball, and the
richard turned up with a pile of His I guage as well and we had that running on
the floor but by mid night we had sore knees but all want to do it again next month
they has so much fun
well great see you guys enjoying the club layout, our guys are working hard on the
modular setup to get it ready for the october show which will be fun
well all the best and send that next batch you want done no problems

Thank you Marco.

I have just enough room to keep my fat behind moving, although a few times (as can be seen on the video) I concentrate more on my movement then the location the camera is pointing at.BigGrin LOL

After busting my gut getting the modular layout ready for the 2013 AMRE Exhibition, I took a leave of absence for the next four months from the club. I was out model railroaded....so to speak.

Decided to come back last Friday (11/10/2013) and run my new 36242 (BR24) and some others that I had found hidden in my stack of enginesBigGrin

Had a great time as no one else showed up so had the layout to myselfThumpUp ThumpUp ThumpUp ThumpUp

Took a few videos as well..................................yes, Spielberg (no offence to the real SpielbergBigGrin ) is backLaugh Laugh

First the new Steppenpferd pulling a rake of 50's metal 'Thunder Boxes'

Next the latest (well in the last twelve months) BR23 pulling a rake of Prussian style (?) carriages.

And lastly the BR03 from the '29640 mega-set' pulling a rake of 'plastic' 'Thunder Boxes'

enjoy

Great videos, Dusan. ThumpUp

I've just gone over the last year's worth of postings on this thread, and I love seeing all these great trains running on such a wonderful layout. I am tempted to pack up and move to the other side of the world just so I can join your club!

Hi Dusan, I really enjoyed the videos. Just curious? Do you use one digital Trafo for

each Lok/loop of track? Peter ThumpUp ThumpUp ThumpUp Smile

Thanks Peter, one transformer and one CS2 control the whole layout.

The fiddle area (which is situated off the McDonalds module) has an on/off switch so that we can place trains without short circuiting the whole layout.

We do sometimes connect my CS2 as a slave unit (and have connected Dale's MS2 as well)

Since last October had a few more club runnings of a great varity .

Let's start with the Märklin set 3121

Next train out of the station is the 37895 Weathered BR44

Followed by BR03 from the 29845 set with a Liliput consist

Now we go to the old club layout and we have a BR70 Fleischmann converted to AC analogue

Still staying with the old layout 3074 BR216 analogue

The 50th Anniversary HO 0-4-0 with a Schicht carriage and lo and behold, see what happens when you use 'schicht' rolling stock. Granted the carriage was very old and very well used.

We'll try again with the 0-4-0 but now with some old time Roco carriages

Sorry about the 'Scalextric' running of the 0-4-0, it wasn't me.

The return of the 3121 set as well as the 37089 Württembergische k

Back to the main layout, 3085 BR01 converted to digital

And to finish off, the BR216 Cargo from 29426 set.

Hope you enjoyed watching as much as we did running the locos

Dusan,

Great videos, I really enjoyed watching them. How long is run on the "new" club layout?

I think this may be 3048? I think 3085 was a BR03.
