Hi all,

What is your oldest Märklin locomotive? Is it still analog or converted to digital? All my older locos (pre 1960 and many newer) are analog and will be forever. Most of them have still original current pick-up shoes/slider(s) and clear traction tyres (if any). Older type four position reversing units are still there in most of them if installed originally.

My oldest analog ones are listed below.

Steam locomotives:

HR 800 N.1 and HR 800.2 DRG BR 01 from 1947 and 1950
F 800.2 and F800.3 DB BR 01 from 1952 and 1954
Two G 800.1 DB BR 44 066 from around 1950-1952
DA 800.1 DB BR 23 from 1954-1955
FM 800.1 DB BR 24 from 1956
RM 800.1 DRG BR 24 from around 1950-1952
Many TM 800's DB BR 80 from 1949 =>
Many CM 800.1's and CM 800.2's DB BR 89 from 1953-1958
3027.3 DB BR 44 from 1958-1961
A few 3031.1's DB BR 81's from 1959-1962
(Coming soon 3048.2 DB BR 01 from 1961-1963)

Electric locomotives:

SE 800.1 DB E 44 green from 1950-1951
CE 800.1 DB E 63 green from 1953-1957
CE 800.7 DB E 63 red from 1964
RET 800.1 SBB Re 4/4 green from 1954-1956
3024.1 DB E 18 green from 1958-1959
Two DB E 41 blue 3034.1's, FS E 424 3035.1's and DB E 41 green 3037's from 1960-1968

Diesel locomotives and rail bus:

DB 800 K/DB 800 B (3016.1/4018.1) DB rail bus from 1955-1958
Two DB 800 K/DB 800 B (3016.3/ 4018.2) DB rail bus from 1959-1962

Many 3021.1, 3021.2, 3021.3 older two lamp DB V 200 006's from 1957-1959 and also newer 3021 models from 1960 => I have actually around 25 of these 3021 models... Blushing

Many 3065.1, 3065.2 and 3065.3 DB V 60 from 1963-1968

3066.1 or 3066.2? SNCB 204 "Nohab" from 1964 =>

Two 3072.1 DB V 100 from 1966-1968

3069.1 SNCB 260 from 1963-1964

3075.2 DB 216 from 1968-1971

RollEyes

As you can see I like also older analog Märklin. Especially from around 1947-1958.

Cheers,
Janne

Hi,
Not being a Maerklin collector prior to 2005, I have no sentimental connection with the older productions.
And I have no experience with the analogue system of AC motors with reversing units.
So my oldest locomotive is a 3317 SNCF 231 (1996??), which I purchased from a dealer in France, who sent it on my behalf, to the Marklin factory for conversion to MFX.
Marklin subsequently forwarded the engine to me in Australia.

My oldest loco is my 1957 SK800, so it will be 60 years old next year, older than I am!

I believe it is a v17, which was produced from 1954 to 1958.

It is still analog and will stay that way. It is still original except for the tyres, which I replaced with rubber ones when the clear tyres fell apart. I have the original red box, but one end of the box has come away (I do have the piece that has come away and I'm open to suggestions as to how to reattach it, but I don't want to tape it), so I keep the loco in its box, which in turn is kept in a seal-able plastic container.

PS - It was just converted to digital this May.

My first is also a V200 3021 from 1967 from the starter set 3121. Oldest is most likely a 3021 which has telex and a manual reversing lever road number 81 004, I might have the model number wrong and I am not sure of it's age, only guessing because of the reversing lever.

My oldest loco is the CM800 in a set given to my brother for Christmas the year I was born, 1958. He passed the trains to me when he lost interest! The loco still runs well and I have not converted her to digital. She has been well played with for many years and looks it! Many parts have been replaced over the years and she has been back to Marklin a couple of times when I was still too young to do my own repairs!

The loco still runs, serviced many times over the years, and will remain analog......Love

my oldest one is a 3005 DA 800, I've received this for Christmas and I still remember it was a delight, as a kid after the war we didn't think we ever get a bigger loco for Christmas, we all had our CM 800 (first loco) = (3000) loco but I think I've sold this one. another loco is the CE 800 (3001) and my brother got the 3038 much later and I still have them today although they have been converted to digital.
all locos are still running.

I just picked up a Hornby o gauge clockwork set from the 20s boxed. The box is ruined as one of the owners put his name and address in ink on the cover in 6 different places. My 3015 is from 1959 ------- a 3016 DB800K from 1959 with 4018 ------------ a 3021 v200 2 lights from 1959/60. These are the oldest

Hi all

My oldest has been in the family from new.

It is a 1957 3011 bought by my father in 1957 in Gutersloh.
He handed it on to me when I was about 7/8.

It regularly still appears at shows on my layout.

The only replacements have been a few bulbs and a pick up slider shoe.

Hi all,

My oldest locomotive is a 3029, bought with my brother, certainly in 1961, with a blue transformer and a small R1 oval with M track.

UserPostedImage

She is always an analogue locomotive, but the picture is shooted on my digital layout with C tracks.

Mine would be my late 1970's 3085 that was my grandfathers (as well as a good old 3000 that sits in my display cabinet) - both have huge sentimental value to me. I finally bought them to the States from Australia on my last visit home two years ago. I finally converted the 3085 to digital and added a smoke generator. I am sure my Grandfather would have loved it.

in 1958 my father bought me a used Marklin setup which included the CM800, RES800 and the DA800 with an F800 tender. Not sure exactly what ages they are. I later in 1972 bought an F-800-5, and 2 more DA800's with their correct tenders.

I got my first train when I was a child in Italy, around 1963, when I was eight years old. It was a set that my father bought for the family and he played with it as much as I did, together.

Eventually, the train gear consisted of three locos: the 3000, 3035 (FS 424 locomotore) and a two-piece Rail Car, no. 3016 and 4018.

We also had a few wagons, mainly the 4000.

We brought the train to Canada (Ottawa) in 1968 (worked very well with a voltage transformer) and it became my nephew's when later on in the year we moved to Toronto and I forgot all about it. Scared I never found out what happened to it since my nephew does not remember; probably it was given to another kid.

Some 44 years later, I came across on the Internet an ad for a Marklin catalogue in Italian for the 1963-64 season and snapped it up. I cherish this catalogue as much as the locos of the time.

On September 19, 2012, I dropped by Mike's at Marklin's West End Trains here in Toronto for the first time. To my astonishment, he had a similar set to the train I used to have and bought set 2963 for almost a song (don't tell him I said that Wink). It came with a couple of 4000 wagons, M tracks, a transformer and a little loco with a chimney like a coffee maker.

I then purchased a 3000 at Mike's and the 3035 in Italy - which Mike digitized and runs great. ThumpUp

My most treasured loco is the 3035 followed by the 3000. I bought a new 30000 (now in the shop at Mike's waiting for a replacement decoder Sad ). Let's not forget the catalogue, a close no. 3 in my heart. Sooner or later, I may end up buying the Rail Car and have Mike digitize it. No rush.

The original 3000 runs but not very well. I have had it cleaned but not too long after, back to square one. I hardly ever run it now, it's just a trophy. BigGrin I am actually considering having Mike digitize this one as well.

There you have my Marklin life story.

Good night everybody from Toronto.

Silvano

My story is very similar Joe,
My Dad bought me the same starter train set when I was 5 years old in 1959.
This is where the story is different.....
My dad died 6 months later unexpectedly, & family friends bought additional carriages, track over the next few years. I saved up & bought a Kitset 3021 loco when I was 12 years old.
I sold everything several years later & got into slot-cars with a large home-made track & many home-made cars.
My Mum however, spotted the train set advertised for sale family that I sold the to & promptly bought it back off them.
It was a little battered with the 3021 missing & the crane was damaged beyond repair.
Got the 3000 loco running again with new tyres, brushes & a pick-up shoe.
Over the years I drag it all out & play with it with my 2 boys.
My youngest (9 years old) has taken a particular interest in the set, so we enjoy going on "flee-bay" & buying up bargain locos with his pocket money. All old tried ones, that seem to take very little work to get them up & running. The boys give them a real thrashing & times (by my standards anyway), with paint being the only sign of damage.
Locos to date are 3000, 3003, 3021, 3050, 3054 & 3065. None are digital & that's fine.

My oldest engine in operation is a 3031 BR 81 engine that I purchased from the late Peyton Randolph who was MEA president at the time. It has gone through two upgrades, the first to replace the hand level with an early style c 80 decoder. The second upgrade was to add a high efficiency upgrade to the motor and to install a ESU 3.0 Lokpilot decoder. It is about 60 years old but looks and runs great. I'm 84 and not looking or running too well.

A HR800 brought in the very early 50's so it could be even late 40's . I was born in 1948 . Need to do a translation of Krolls for the HR to work out which model I actually have along with the SK & G 800's I could be sitting on a imaginary fortune .

I believe my oldest is my BR 89 at 1954-958.
UserPostedImage

A close second would be the DA 800 (I believe 1957-1958, smoke screens are attached with screws).

I suppose the DA800 could be older than the BR 89, but I'm going to stick with the 89. Flapper

I am unsure how old this engine is. I have owned it for about 30 years, and it was well second hand when I acquired it.
It is marked "T800" on the front of the engine, and "20V" on the side of the cab. Can any body help me with a build date?
Thanks,

That's a 1949 T790... I've also got one of those, and it's my oldest loco.
