Recently, forum member Yumgui and my humble being seized the opportunity to team up in order to inspect "Mémorail - Quercy vapeur" in Saint-Géry on the river Lot in France on the occasion of a Transeurop Express (TEE) exhibition with models and railway memorabilia. It seems that the mastermind behind this is a certain Dr. Eisenbahn aka forum member JVuye; HO scale TEE trains are almost entirely from his private collection. We cornered said individual and I can only say: Awesome dude, like really!

Hello Ak and all.
Well this explains that: my (currently) spotty presence on this forum is now exposed in public!
It is always fun to get together with like-minded people!
Hopefully more members will one day make the same detour while crossing France...
But I confess I am the one who has a lot of fun with all this!
I'll shoot a few pictures of the TEE exhibition and post them here in the next couple of days.
Thanks again AK and Yumgui for your visit, it was an honour!

Hello JVuye,

The TEE's are my favourite trains and I look forward to your images.

Hi all,

A great day spent visiting Mémorail in the stunning Lot valley ...
I cannot stress enough that whoever travels near Cahors in SW France must make this stop !

After a long bout with my squirrel-powered internet connection here in the Carcassonne boonies, a short choppy video of our mini train ride surrounded by a simply magnificient landscape can be found here :

You will no doubt recognize Jacques (driving) and Ak by the back of their heads ... what you can't see is my wife behind me holding our railfan dog with its ears flapping in the wind ... a great ride ;P

For some good photos of the exceptionnal environnement see also this website (forget the dysfunctionnal links) on the QUERCYRAIL Cahors to Capdenac line, unfortunately closed in 2003 (:/) : http://www.yvon59.fr/pho...rain_qui_ne_siffle_plus/

A few extra photos of the Mémorail layout are also attached below, a tribute to Jacques' efforts to bring this 2-rail installation up to date with added Märklin 3 rail K-track, ECOS controller, TEE trains and all ...

Thanks to Ak for organizing this meet, and to Jacques for his unequalled hospitality !

Thanks for the report....that's pretty much my daily fareBigGrin during the whole summer.
yeah, it's tough but someone has to do it!
Today we had about 40 people visiting the museum...not counting the countless kids, that were all enthusiastic.
Who said model railroading is dying?
I'd say not!!
Cheers

Forum Member Meetings - 2016 Update

June 2016 - visiting my home to inspect the "Badland" layout:

PJMärklin from Australia came and brought a Australian beer box car by M* plus a Tasmanian apron.

August 2016 - US Mid-Atlantic states tour:

1)
5HorizonsRR led me to the Red Caboose MRR shop behind the NYC Grand Central terminal and subsequently offered a couple of beers.

2a)
BrandonVA received me in his home, showed his latest layout and demonstrated his MTH UP Geep; further he gave me a ride in his self-assembled Cobra muscle car.

2b)
Petestra received me in his home, demonstrated multiple (and simultaneous) train operations and gave a tour of his garden.

Thank you fellows !
