This model V 188 from the Märklin are doubled headed diesel locomotive.
But how does the sounds hear in the mfx decoder?
Is there two motor or just only one diesel motor sound?

Those I know (one fx version, one older mfx version) have the sound of two diesel motors.
It would be a big surprise if the recent model only had the sound of 1 diesel motor.

I think the fx versions of this loco simply had the V 200 sound ...

With the prototype you hear 2 diesel motors and 8 electric motors working (probably plus blower, compressor, ...).

Tom

My 2016 VT 11.5 (37604) simulates the sound of the diesel motors in both power cars, so I am expecting that the V 188 will do that too.

I'm not sure that anyone actually has one yet to make an exact determination though.

Jim

I have almost all Märklin and mostly HO, although I do have a small number of Z gauge trains!
So many trains and so little time.

I've got one and gave it a quick run when I received it last week, but can't remember noticing whether the sound was for one or two diesel engines.

I just got back from a short holiday in Portugal so I'll put it on the track tomorrow and report back!

I am very interested in possibly getting this loco myself.

Any insights that you can provide into the appearance/operation/sounds of this model would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

Jim

OK, I ran the loco about ten minutes ago, and to be honest I'm not sure if I can hear one diesel engine or two. The engine sounds seemed to be more complex than those of other diesels I happen to have on the layout, but I can't tell for sure.

We'll have to get a second opinion.

Okey thanks for the information Ray!
I´m not really sure, but do the prototype have symmetrical motor sound?
I have never listen the prototype diesel locomotive.
It´s very rare to find a video to listen the sound.

Thanks Ray.

The most obvious way to tell that the sounds of two engines are simulated in my VT 11.5 is when you first turn on the operating sounds when the train is sitting idle. First you hear one engine start and settle into an idle and then a few seconds later you hear the second one start. Pretty cool.

Actually, after it is running it might be pretty hard to tell one way or the other.
