Personally I think it will grow on me. Initially I did not like the Taurus nor the Gravita. Now, I love them. Smile I like the bright colours though. Especially the green.

the colours are great and also the BLS side design but the front it looks like if they try to match trucks front appearance or a hint of cat's whiskers.

I have always thought the the Vectron looks a little 'awkward'. None the less, I hope Marklin makes this lok available in 2017! Kato has already released it in N-scale.

And Piko already made it in H0. Piko also made the BR 187 in H0 before Märklin even announced it as a 2016 new item.

Yes, I think Märklin will make the Vectron in H0. Not sure in which year to expect it.

Back to topic: the whiskers are part of the loco body and BLS cannot be blamed for that.
Could it be that the red zone is required for Italy? Black MRCE Vectrons also have the red bars.

Are we discussing the Vectron design or the BLS design here?
Regards
Tom

My simperthy for your lack of Z Vectron and also Traxx 186 / 185.5 they just don't seem to have done much outside the steam era? The Torus is back, but no Traxx even? Come on Marklin it putting me of getting back into Z:-(

Looks like Piko will be the first to make the BLS Vectron available in HO:

Tom, it's not about the BLS design I was talking about, merely because my interest are BLS locos.

I did not like the 152/189 design. I found the Taurus (10/1116/182) a little more pleasing. The new Vectron has many features from the older 152/189 design with some improvements, but I still find the Taurus more attractive.

My favourite modern locomotive types are the SBB Re 460 (Re 4/4 VI aka Lok 2000) and the OBB 1016/1116 (Taurus)

I quite like the Vectron shape. In a world where all locos are beginning to look the same they have an almost "retro" look to them.

I plan to get the 36193 SBB version when it comes out later this year, and maybe also the 36190 "Railpool" loco.

Ray personally I don't mind the shape but the front grill just doesn't do it for me but regardless I will order them.

Hi John,

I, too, noticed the Vectron seems similar to a truck.

vectron-isuzu.jpg

But there are similarities with other locomotives as well:

The V200 and the VW Bus

v200-vwbus.jpg

The EMD E units and the Phantom Corsair

emd-eunit_phantom_corsair.jpg

This may be a stretch, but the RE460s, when introduced, reminded me of the moonbus in the movie "2001: A Space Odyssey"

I think industrial designers always take their cues from each other and form trends as a result.
