I have the loco 37370 and I can't turn the sound off !!Cursing

I have checked all the functions and they are off, however, the loco still makes the random sounds. Can someone please help me to turn the random sounds off when the sound function is off.

Hi, Greg?

Which controller?

Have you tried a decoder reset?

There should be a "Reset" button somewhere on the loco properties screens, third tab "Advanced" on the top menu (assuming the loco registered with the M4/mfx protocol).

Random sounds should be off when operating sound is off.
Is there a "pattern" with the sounds? Sounds can also be activated when changing the direction or when loco starts moving or stops. Maybe they are not random, even though they play at the wrong time.
Regards
Tom

I'm still having the problem with the random sounds working when all the functions for the loco are turned off.

My thought is, that there's a CV which controls the "random" function. Is this correct? If so, what number is the CV and how do I turn the CV to "off"?

Regards
Greg

Sounds like you need to replace the decoder?

If the sounds bother you just remove the speaker...

The same problem i did had with the Trix bayern steam locomotive.
The decoder are mfx and they are stupid.
The real problem are default with the program in the decoder.
I did first tested by reset decoder at CV 8 adress by write 8.
Not sure if this is correct with the value 8.
If this does not work, your decoder are crap!
By the way...my problem was keep going on.
I sold my locomotive. ThumpUp

Removing the speaker is not an option - I guess I need to replace the decoder. The loco is still under warranty, however, the cost to post it back to German and then wait for its return . . . .

Thanks for the tip,

Regards

Can you test the loco with an analog transformer?
Sometimes happen that this wake up the decoder.
You must consider if order a new decoder is cheaper than send and return the loco to the seller.

It may be worth investing in the Marklin decoder programmer and looking at the function mapping. I am getting the impression that Marklin have produced a decoder that is very close to the ESU v4 decoders in flexibility of programming and it would not be hard to have someone set the master sound file up incorrectly so the result is what you see.
