Attention all Marklinites.
I have finally decided to do something about the dreaded "Tool Pile Monster".Scared
Every time I try to lay some track it appears: Tools, Wood, Bad Track, Glue, Garbage etc.Cursing

My solution: A Mechanic's service cart. $49.99 @ Harbor freight.Wub

cart 004.JPG

Available in "Marklin red" or purple. Guess which one I picked.Love

Here it is fully loaded on it's first test run around the train room. No derailments! (Sorry no video)

I would end-up filling that up with all the stuff I tend hoard and collect, what I feel are necessary in less than neat piles! I am hopeless case and am looking for a 12 step hobby hording program. But for normal people it looks like a great solution and cart.

I was just thinking the same or similar solution and it will be my next project. the times I've looked for things within a small space with all other tools around I thought there must be a better way of storing tools (layout in the garage)

A slight word of caution. I had one of those a couple of years back (minus the cycle logo!). I don't know if it was the uneven floor of the garage or that I loaded it top heavy but at least twice it simply fell over. Having spent hours sorting nuts and washers and bolts and screws into little boxes I used to look at the mess and say "oh gosh its fallen over"

Very nice, but only applies to those lucky enough to have a large space dedicated to their hobby.

My layout shares my son's bedroom, my "workshop" is the dining room table, and my tools are kept on their tool rack in my box-room/cupboard when not in use.

I wouldn't be popular with the rest of the family if they kept tripping over a tool cart as well!

Small C track layout, control by MS2, 100+ trains but run 4-5 at a time.

Ray,

you shouldn't have any problem in case you consider selling the apartment: for sale "Apartment with workshop" ideal for the hobbyist. all you need is a folding tool cart.BigGrin

Wow, Great reviews. Thanks for the response.

I am well aware of the handy built in "tip over feature" of these fine devices so I keep all my heavy power tools on the bottom.

I have been using it for a few weeks now and I love it.

It rolls freely under all my bench work for parking and can be used as a catch tray when I drill holes, make cuts etc.

All my stuff is right were I need it.

Saves allot of time.

Prost. Mikey
