We have found a rudimentary kit in the attic that has worked before but won't start up this time.

I cannot tell if we have not managed a tight enough track loop ( we eliminated branching so as not to have unclosed loops and have counted out the pieces to make it symmetrical, but still I am not satisfied that the connections are sufficiently tight); or if there is a code number that needs to be punched into the controls to get the engine to start.

Thanks for any help.

Thanks Paul : I just had time to eat dinner - fish soup.

It is Marklin, with about 25-30 track pieces, and the plug into the wall power converter that feeds the track. There is a remote steering system.

There are two locos: one H13060706 C E with a number 7 on the side seems the most reliable and is the digital one ; the other is a steam engine style with less info but identifiable as model 3029 -- I think it is from the older system.

I think I have fixed a stabile track now even if it is still very symmetrical.

Thanks,

And now we've got it going.... Flapper

you may have to include photos here. Check the Mega Starter sets blog below and it will help you place photos. The earlier loco you described is an analogue one. Analogue controllers are single items. Digital controllers are usually a set of 2 items. I am not an expert but even the experts will not be able to help you without more information. describe the loco colour, its running [ cabin ] number, [ the number H13060706 C E you have given is probably the number under the loco and not its running number which is on the front and / or sides , what nationality ie DB Sbb etc.
