It's here! Announced as part of the 2013 new items, the Marlin 88293 GVB Gt 2x4/4 Class 96 locomotive is an update to the previous 88290/1/2 series of Class 96 locomotives, but with much improved detail in the valve gear.

My dealer listed it for ordering last January (when it was listed for delivery in Q2/15), and I placed my order in Feb 2015. It finally arrived today. It comes in a commemorative wooden box inside the standard cardboard packaging.

Note they have sequential road numbers, 5767 and 5768.
Both are impressively large (for Z-scale), and heavy locos. The valve gear on the 88293 is very detailed.

Cheers,
Mike

That's certainly a big improvement in the valve gear - I'd hate to have to take it apart for servicing! Crying

How does the new loco run (especially compared to the old version)?

Great looking units. How tight a curve can these navigate? Thanks.
