Another digital problem I have -

I've bought a 7244 Universal Relay unit and I want to know how (and if) I can connect it to a m83 unit. I assume the 3 wires that are attached to the 7244 (2 blue + 1 yellow) go to the m83. The yellow wire to the centre connector and the 2 blue wire to the left and right connectors. I'm trying to turn 12v DC LED lights on or off.

On the 7244 3 connectors (1,2,3) connector "1" goes to the positive 12v DC power supply. "2" goes to the positive LED light. "3" is empty. And the negative of the power supply goes to the negative of the lights. IS THIS CORRECT? Confused Confused Confused I'm only guessing.

Regards
Greg

I took a gamble and experimented with the relay unit I bought. The results were good first time. BigGrin BigGrin BigGrin The relay worked as I described. I'll try and make a reasonable drawing of it so everyone can understand.

I've had a closer look at the relay unit and discovered that I didn't do a very thorough test. I connected one light to the first relay and didn't check the other 3 connections. The result is that it doesn't work the way I intended the unit to work. What I want to do, if it's possible, is to connect the relay unit to a m83 unit and be able to operate the 4 relays independently.

At the moment, I have the 3 wires from the relay connected to one port on the m83. This gives me a working relay on this port, however, the other 3 ports I can't access. Can anyone help?

Regards
Greg

Hi Greg,

I'm afraid you can't drive separately the 4 groups of contact. They are activated all at the same time.

Extract from the doc of 7244:

"The 7244 universal relay offers four electrically separated switches which are activated in common."

documentation here: https://static.maerklin....4eba36c4191434542531.pdf

If you wish to have 4 relays driven separately, use a K84/Viessmann 5213 or m84.

Cheers
Fabrice

The 7244 is one relay with four connected switches on the output side.

To use all 4 ports of an m83 you will need 4 7244s.
