I am not sure if we have been insulted or complemented but the ultimate geek, Sheldon from the Big Bang Theory has a train set, a Lionel one to be precise. It will be interesting to see how it plays out.

He has also played with HO in various episodes. I don't watch the show enough to keep track of his current leanings.Blink

I remember one episode where he visited a train shop to listen to a debate about wether 0 or H0 was the better scale. He was convinced that 0 was better (of course) but returned home with a H0 starter set (a bit ashamed). But hes favorite scale seems to be 1:1!

I am only an occasional watcher of the series so I was not aware that there had been previous episodes involving model trains. I was in fact going by a bit in the Lionel Facebook page for an episode that went out yesterday.

Thanks for that. I guess the US media is as bad as we have in the UK when it comes to railway and model railway enthusiasts.

Yes, but any publicity is good publicity. I'll cling to that.Unsure

I can't recall seeing any other model train references in recent television programs. Oh, there was Doug Hefernan's father in King of Queens, who belonged to an O scale club. I don't recall that it was such a bad portrayal. But that was 10+ years ago.
