Hi! :)

For most of my layouts I´ve been either buying ready-made walls and platforms, or been engraving in plaster on a wooden plate.
Now however, I´ve gone over to making all engraving in Styrofoam, finishing with a layer of plaster and then Acrylic paint.

The colours can be varied to fit whatever scenario you´re going for, but the process stays more or less the same.
Surpricingly enough I made a video-tutorial! LOL

Hello Martin,

I felt I had achieved a fair result with scenery on my layout, mostly using Woodland Scenics and other products from Faller, Vollmer, Kibri, Merkur et al with but a few original base construction ideas of my own, however I have learnt many lessons from your posts and video-tutorials.

I absolutely admire your skills in producing great results at minimal cost from simple materials that are all around us.
You are indeed a master of the craft !!

Regards

Hi Martin,

I noticed that you had some problems when cutting styrofoam.
You didn't get very smooth surface with the hot wire.

Make a scale to both stencils and cut styrofoam with a friend.
You both repeat scale numbers when cutting so that you cut in the same pace.
This is the best way. I have cut rc scale model wings with this method over 40 years.

Mvh

BigGrin Same here! I used this method to cut F2 Combat Wings in line Control aeromodelling. Yeah... For that use the shape is more important than for a support pillars, but for sure.. With help the result improves a lot. ThumpUp
