Hi Serge,

It depends if you are comfortable with programming or not.

-If not, stay with MM and use the address assignation with DIP-Switches. It is also advised in the manual to use the DIP-switch mode, thus MM. Remember: DIP-Sw 10 must set to OFF for use with MM.
-If yes, you may use DCC. If you have more than 320 solenoid devices, DCC is mandatory (up to 2048 devices).

Cheers
Fabrice

I use Lenz LS150 turnout decoder and it works only with the DCC.
It works excellent.
I did tested Märklins new mfx/DCC digital signal and it does work superb with the DCC protocol.

Why do you post this? I cannot see any relevance for the question that was asked.

I assume Serge already bought the decoders and I guess it is too late to recommend other brands.

Back to topic: I would use DCC to fully exploit the capabilities of the decoders. But I am familiar and comfortable with DCC programming (I never use the CS2 for DCC programming because it is much easier with Intellibox or Central Station Reloaded).
The DIP switches are there to give beginners a way to use the decoders without programming.
And when the DIP switches are used, then IMHO it makes no difference whether you set them to MM or DCC because I assume both protocols give the same level of reliability.

If special features are needed at a later time, it is still possible to program the decoder using DCC, but continue using it with MM protocol.
Regards
Tom

Hi Goofy BigGrin

Hi TomBigGrin

Thank you for your replies

I have received a message from my dealer and friend Mike : always use MM and use DCC for Trix-2 rails

Have a nice day

Since 2003 I use DCC for Märklin three-rail whenever possible.

There is no technical reason to "always use MM".

But if you rely on Mike for advice and support, things will be easier if you follow his advice.
