Hello
I am new to the Forum and have tried to find an answer to the following but can't find a solution.
I have two SBB Type B Coaches and one Type A coach and I have fitted the 73400 lighting kit x2 together with 72021 Current-Conducting couplers. The centre coach has two of these couplings and the outer two have just one (connecting to the centre one). The first coach has the pick-up shoe and the last catch has the common pickup but when all connected I can only get two of the coaches to light up regardless of how I wire them. The centre coach always lights but either the first or last does not. Can someone please tell me how the interconnecting wiring should be done? Hope I have explained this correctly but I am stumped.
TIA

I presume that you are referring to the 43360/61 and 43370/71 Light Steel coaches. Each coach should have two of the 73400/73401 LED strips installed. The slider and a ground contact should be mounted on the bogies of the first coach (A). A wire should be used to connect the live lead to the mounting attached to the coupling shaft where you intend to mount the 72021. (See 72021 Page 10) The middle coach should have a pair of ground contacts connected to the appropriate terminals on that coach's LED strips. The wire from the coupling shaft should be connected to the same socket as the lead from the slider was on the first coach. (See 72021 Page 9) The rest of the installation should be the same as above. The third coach should have the connection via the coupling shaft in the same manner as the middle coach, but without the additional wire to the coupling shaft mount, unless you are planning to add additional coaches in the future.

This one shows you how to install the lighting and connect the slider and ground:

This one shows you how to connect the LED strip and the replacement connection for the coupling shaft:

Hi Mike and thanks for your reply.
I am still a bit confused as I understood that you only needed one Slider and one ground pickup to reduce the friction of the pickups. However I have solved my problem by fitting a ground contact to the centre coach. The drawings in the 72021 booklet are very misleading and nowhere does It show how to connect multiple coaches or give colours to the wiring. Yes I have two strips in each coach. A simple drawing of how to connect multiple coaches would be much more instructive.

The second link that I provided shows how to connect the lighting of a coach without a slider. The diagram shows how to wire the connections to both coupling shafts as well as to one wheel contact per coach, starting with the wheel contact on Page 7 and completing it with the rest on Page 9. The ground (wheel) contact wire is shown on Page 9 as - - - - -

Yes I understand what you are saying, but the drawings are still IMHO, are not clear. However as I said I have now solved the problem by adding a wheel contact in the centre coach.
Thanks for your help.
By the way when I was adding the lighting drip the little Spring on the coupler came out and I failed to notice it fir some time and having searched everywhere I cannot find it. Do you or anyone Elle's know what the part no is as I cannot find it?
Alistair.
