Good afternoon,
I bought a Marklin Big Boy recently. I was told before I bought it that it was new and from a Marklin Mega Start set. I have looked on the internet and understand that the version should be Marklin 37990. However, When I check the owner's manual the decoders fitted to my locomotive do not match those in the manual. The decoder fitted to the tender of my locomotive has no dip switches fitted. My CS2 identifies only four functions and reads the digital address as 40.

Could anyone please help me with information as to which version of Big Boy that I have.

Looking forward to your replies.

John

It is from 29848 mega starter set.

Big Boy factory setting 37, Dip switch with decoder inside the loco body near the cab.

Copy and paste the link of 29848 manual in PDF.

Off-topic:

No more 'obvious' links for PDFs? e.g. 29848-explo.pdf, 29848-betrieb.pdf...

Confused

Yes, I know... new Märklin website...

Cheers,

Walter

Steven,

Thank you for your quick reply. The link you sent shows the locomotive that I have

I assume the Big Boy from the starter set was never released as a separate item.

Hi John, Firstly lets identify what is the running number on the side of the cab. That may narrow the search down & is it black or weathered?

#37990 = 4013
#37991 = 4012
#37992 = 4012 Weathered version
#37993 = 4006
#37994 = 4019
#37995 = 4014
#37996 = 4020
#29848 = 4015 Starter set version

29848_betrieb.pdf (1,626kb) downloaded 48 time(s).
