I am trying to set up a small C-track layout (an oval with 2 turnouts to the inside). I am trying to use the layout as a learning tool for a bigger layout being built in Basel, Switzerland. I have an MS2 to control an MFX loco with sound and it works fine. When the IB is connected to a laptop using a Keyspan adapter and running iTrain this setup used to work in the past. When the IB is changed from stop to go the loco starts off at max speed and nothing will control it. At this stage if I change iTrain from connect to disconnect the loco stops so there must be some communication between iTrain and the IB. When connected iTrain had no control of the loco either.
My IB setup is as follows.
INTERFACE P50X
BAUDRATE 19200
SYNTAX 6050 & IB
PROGRAM TRACK -PROG TRK ONLY
SPEC OPTIONS 907 = 5 25 = 1 22 = 7 (The rest default setting)
SOFTWARE VERSION = v2.00
ITrain v3.3 (PRO TRIAL)

Any suggestions please am I missing something obvious?

do you have the MS2 and the IB connected at the same time? Ensure the MS2 is not connected.

Does the IB control the train if not connected to the laptop?

Hi Dale,
I can confirm that the MS2 is not connected at the same time and the IB does not control the loco at any time.

When the IB is connected and I put an MFX 37136 on the circuit unlike the other loco nothing happens whatsoever. With the Re 460 the lights come on and off it goes at pace. At this time the speed varies with the Re 460 and randomly slows by about 10% or so. The voltage with the IB gives a track reading of between 17v and 21v whereas the MS2 gives a constant 17.5v.

Modern decoders remember the last speed setting until new instructions arrive.
Select the address of the loco on the IB before pressing GO.

The IB should be able to control trains manually before you try PC control.

IB is an central station.
MS2 with the box is an digital system.
If you have Märklin box connecting at the same time with the IB,you have sure problem!
I mean about the wires...red and brown.

I have one piece of track for each with the brown & red wires connected to each, one from MS2 and one from IB. I remove one piece of track for one and replace it with the other. At no time are two power connections made at the same time.
I have done an IB reset as per manual and the only things changed are

BAUDRATE 19200
SYNTAX 6050 & IB
SPEC OPTIONS 907 = 5, 25 = 1, 22 = 7

Both turnout lanterns are lit and voltage is between 18v & 20v when IB green for go.
Still nothing happening (PC disconnected totally).

MS2 works fine.

Is the IB set up with Marklin as the default protocol? This sounds as though it may be set to DCC as the default, and I don't know that a factory reset will change that.

A good point! With the IB you must have MM to control mfx locomotive, while MS2 must have MM/mfx protocol.
