No Crocodile, but the Swiss train arrived in Ystad around 11 today.

Since the croc & train was not there, they had put an old DA loco at the station with 2 coaches for the SBB passengers who arrived at 6:30 with an earlier ferry.

The ferry with the train on board.

You know, if you look at hwestl's first group pic you can see that my hairdo is a bit weird...

We were hit by a small thunderstorm with torrential rain while we were on top of the walk bridge across the tracks where many pics are taken from...
We had to hide under the bridge for 10-15 minutes before we all gathered for a common lunch at the meeting point...

However, the drowned camera was still working so here's a bonus pic - The busy V5 pulling more stuff that was on the ferry... Smile

According to a short blurb in LOK Report (www.lokreport.de) the Crocodile was taken to Seddin for repairs.
Not other details given.

Thank you for the pictures everyone. I was nearly going to come over for this trip, but the falling Aussie dollar made the trip financially impossible.. So I bought myself a new camera body instead. LOL

Anyway, the event makes for some exciting model railway possibilities. It's a pity we could not find a white coloured flat wagon with a giant wooden uncoupler stick to add to the train.. LOL

An update on the Crocodile from Swedish Postvagnen (Mail coach):

and a quick translation:

"Crocodile News Saturday morning (General)

HP, Jonkoping, Saturday, Sept. 5, 2015, 11:41:06
edited by HP, Saturday, Sept. 5, 2015, 12:19:24

As it has just been decided that crocodile will be transported via Denmark. This is thanks to an incredibly nice offer from Hector Rail, which together with the Danish Railway Museum and Veterantog Vest that fixed this. A great thanks and from the heart!

The crocodile will thus on the way to Sweden will not go via the train ferry from Poland to Ystad, but it comes at the beginning of next week transported from Berlin to Padborg by Rail Adventure, then pulled by Hector Rail through Denmark to Malmö. Where we take over and pull the locomotive through Sweden to Stockholm.

Now we also keep our fingers crossed that mounting and adjusting of the bearing and test drive in Berlin means that the locomotive can make it the whole way. Bearings have arrived and are now being processed.

Yours sincerely Henrik Reuterdahl, SJVM"

This means that it seems that the Crocodile will come through Denmark, meaning that also Danish enthusiasts should have cameras ready!

Wow, I had the feeling of looking at a line up of Marklin Tin Plate Swiss stock - spoiled by an Hbils wagon on the back end. What do they need that for? Confused

Good to see the reports from our members.

The following photos originally posted at SBB Historic explain the need for the Hbils:

Weil am Rhein1

Weil am Rhein2

Weil am Rhein3

Switzerland is not part of the EU, it is not even part of the European Economic Area (EEA), but part of the Schengen area allowing for travel without border controls. This means that for entering Germany custom allowances for travel from outside of the EU applies. The following is copied from the German customs' Internet pages:

"2.Alcohol and beverages containing alcohol, if the importer is at least 17 years old:

•1 litre of spirit drinks of an alcohol strength by volume exceeding 22 % or undenatured ethyl alcohol of an alcoholic strength by volume of 80 % or higher or
•2 litres of alcohol and alcoholic beverages of an alcohol strength by volume up to 22 % or
•a proportionate combination of these goods and
•4 litres of non-sparkling wine and
•16 litres of beer"

The photos are shot at Weil am Rhein in Germany a neighbour town of Basel, Switzerland. For travel within the EU there are no strict maximum rules for alcohol etc., only reference levels:

•10 litres of spirit drinks
•90 litres of wine
•20 litres of fortified wine
•110 litres of beer

SBB Historic chose to take onboard supplies in Germany for the whole journey, since it would be in the EU.
