Welcome to the forum.

In the USA check out Reynaulds, AJCKIDS, and Euro Model Trains.

Cheers

Hi and welcome to the forum. If you are going to make larger purchases the dollar is good against the euro now. I have been using Lokshop

in Germany. Their prices and service is quite good too. Cheers,Peter Cool Cool

As mentioned in the two preceding posts - for significant purchases, I look to lokshop.de as the additional shipping costs are easily offset by lower prices considering the exchange rate. For the day to day stuff and smaller purchases I use AJCKIDS.com as well as a more local M retailer that I also try to support. On line purchasing is often times easier and less expensive, but I don't think we can underestimate the value of trying to keep our local "brick and motor" dealers in business as well.

There are a few good dealers in the USA, but I would compare prices and service before making an order. You may also wish to consider ordering directly from Europe. There are some large shops that ship to the USA that will be cheaper, even with postal costs. Those include:

Lokshop
Kramm
Schweickhardt (ETS)/Modellbahn.com
Kieskemper

There are also other dealers on ebay.de, including:
Joachim Diez Joe's Modelbahnlaedele
Johnvandamme
just to name a few.

Make sure to request a VAT exemption to receive an additional 18-20% reduction, depending on where you order from.

With the US dollar up against the Euro and Swiss franc, you can also check Swiss shops if you like SBB stuff. I recommend Swiss shops for some Swiss limited items that might not be readily available in Germany or the USA. Special items can be found in the country that they were made for because shops there are more likely to order greater quantities.

With the US dollar up against the Canadian dollar, you can also check dealers like Eurorailhobbies (BC), Hobbytech (AB), or Westend Trains and John's Photo (ON) as their old stock will now be 25% cheaper due to the recent strength of the greenback.

Regards

Mike C

If considering European dealers I can also recommend Modellbahnshop-Lippe. They are usually competitive with Lokshop, automatically deduct VAT for a North American address, do not charge credit card fees, accept PayPal, and provide bonus Euros for your next purchase.

I've used MicroMacroMundo to buy figures before. Very easy to deal with and local to you. They have some great sales prices on marklin at present.

I also recommend Lokshop <LINK> as I also use it as my primary goto shop for MRR items.
Also Modellbahn Kramm <LINK> but they do tend to be more expensive.
Have also been to Modellbahn West <LINK> but don't recall getting anything from them online.
Modellbahnecke <LINK> I have visited and also online.
Modellbahn Licht <LINK> is another I have visited, cannot remember if I did any online business
Joes Modellbahn <LINK> I have bought one online shipment from, was very happy with it, very prompt shipment, haven't visited his physical shop.

Another I have dealt with is in Italy, Toy Trains Märklin Store which I used when looking online for an item which was a limited item only available in France, Switzerland and Italy (you can't get everything from Germany!). I was very happy with their service too. Note that his website has "Italian Program" links on the side, and that is possibly the only way to get some of these items if you want a certain variety.

Also on any website don't forget to look at the Trix items as some of the wagons are complimentary to the Marklin ones (different road numbers and sometimes loads are variations I have seen as well).

A number of these shops have been mentioned further up but I included them here with links.

Hi,

Welcome to the forum.

For my orders of Märklin Insiders items now I buy from Modellbau Fischer LINK.

I do not know if they deduct the VAT for export delivery, but I found their prices for the Märklin Insiders items very competitive.

Cheers

Hey Cessna!

Welcome!

Two more dealers you might want to look into:

RJF Trains (New York)

EuroRail (BC Canada)

They both have websites.

Good luck!

I second Mikey's suggestion - Toto Trains in Lawrence Kansas. Jan is my "brick and motor" dealer that I try to support as much as possible. Their web address is http://www.tototrains.com.

Hello John,

I don't think I had a pleasure of dealing with you, please correct me if I am wrong, but do you mind telling me why on earth have you adopted my photo of Marklin 29245 set from my website as your avatar? LOL

I've been using Matschke for over 20 years now. Carsten Laag, speaks very good English so communications are seamless.

I want to put a plug in for Anders at hobbycenter.se in Göteborg.

He is so good he offered to take off the VAT as soon as I walked through the door - he even filled all the paper work out for me.. His website is not great for English speaking people, so I give him a call and he do the deal over the phone. Like most Swedish people I have met, he speaks great English. The last thing I bought from him was the excellent 37755 Dm3 (only available in Sweden) and three ore wagon sets. No VAT of course.

Aside from the VAT, the SEK (and the NOK ) is a better value currency for Australians than the Euro or US$ these days.
