During the scanning and archiving of past magazines from our club, an article caught my eye from the 1977 September issue.

It is reported that this Loco was sold that year in Rotorua (NZ) to an Auckland collector. I do not yet know who was the original source of this story.

As best I can tell, G-III was last produced around 1922 and is around 67mm.

The only reference I have showing any G-III items is the 1911 catalogue but the fact that one of these may be here down-under is intriguing to say the least.

That looks very much like an HR 4021 to me, and there were only O & I Gauge variants of that style locomotive. From what I've seen, most Gauge III models from Marklin were produced around 1910 period. As time went on the size was too big so wasn't practical.
