Hi
The CM803/3 is relatively common and it's value depends on condition. If it has an original box with cardboard internal insert, packaging, oil bottle and manuals it could be anywhere up to $200. In average condition with the loco and 3 wagons plus box it would be closer to $100. However if you had the CE803/3 it would be slightly more rare.

CM805/3 was first released in 1953 and renumbered to set 3200 from 1957 onward until 1974.

Not a hard set to find but of course a really tidy one with all original items is still desirable to the right collector.

Here it is from the 1956 catalogue

CM805-3-56p16.jpg

The oldest Oz price list I have is 1962 from Searles in Sydney, and at that time the CM805/3 was listed for 8£ 16s 7d!!

By comparison, here in NZ the same set at the start in 1953 was around 6£ but I have no idea how the two currencies compared across those years but I imagine they would not have been too far apart.

Adding photos of your is easy - when you post a message, click the small paperclip icon in the tools above the message body, browse to the folder on your PC where you have saved the photos and click upload. Just makre sure they are not too large or they will not display. You can use your MS Paint program to resize them.

Cheers

Steve

OK, That doesn't look much like a CM805/3.

It looks like the original set is a CM827/3 which includes a CM800(3000) loco and three 327/1(4000) coaches. There is also an additional FM800(3003) loco and at least one extra piece of track, the turnout visible in the photo.

The CM827/3 set was later renumbered 3100. This was my original childhood train set, bought in 1958.

Small C track layout, control by MS2, 100+ trains but run 4-5 at a time.

Agreed,

Pete does the box bear the label on the end-flap and can you post a pic of it?

If it says CM805/3 then it would appear to be the wrong contents with the box. If there is no label, you may have found an incorrect reference somewhere indicating what you believed it to be.

Possibly the original owner had both sets and got them mixed up?
