Sorry in case this has already been mentioned here somewhere (I searched but didn't find anything), but I have just tried out this offering and am very happy with the result:

http://mein-waggon.de/

The German dealers Modellbahn West/Jim Knopf enable you to purchase Marklin two-axle boxcars no. 4415 decorated to your individual taste. The ordering process takes a bit of experimenting and getting used to, but the units I "designed" for myself came out exactly as planned. The price per unit is EUR 39,90 plus shipping.

The latest marklin TV shows a direct printing machine. It prints directly onto the model kind of like an inkjet printer does on paper. The box car does have a flat surface so I think that it would be easy to actually print. THe graphics would have to formatted correctly for it to work.

That is totally awesome, I had a bit of a play around and got it sorted very quickly.

Thanks for the link ThumpUp

Price per unit does come down if you order a number so perhaps worth organizing for a club or group.
