Hi all

Well I have finally obtained a pristine version of the 0224 interior for a 4024. It did cost me a lot more than the £10 one I found at Christmas Scared
It is all sealed and the date on the box is 1966. This means the kitchen area is plastic rather than wood, as in the earlier versions.

UserPostedImage

So I have a mint 4024 - should I fit the -0224 or leave them separate

UserPostedImage

What would it do to the value (if any) of the 4024Confused

What is the Kolls value of a 0224 from 1966?

Your thoughts appreciated.

Hi Stephen

I don't feel so bad now as the value in Kolls is 40 euro. I paid a bit less than that - but not much....

Thanks.

Go for it, Mike!

I'm very happy with how the coach looks after fitting the interior. It really brings it to life!

Hi Mike,

Koll's value for a plastic version of 0224 is only 10 Euros in the 2015 edition of the catalogue.

Maybe Joachim Koll can find one for that price, but I certainly can't! I was lucky enough to get a metal-and-wood 0224 last year for 17 Euros, but it was in a lot with some other stuff. I apportion what I paid in proportion to the Koll's values for each item when I buy several items for a single price, in order to produce an approximation of what I paid for each item.

Obviously, it's up to you whether you decide to fit the interior to a coach, or keep them separate as collector items. It's only because collectors keep these things in pristine condition that they are still available to us to buy now, decades after they went out of production. It's almost 50 years since the 0224 set was in the catalogue.

Best wishes,

Nigel

Hi Nigel

Thanks for the advice. I certainly paid a few more Eurodollars than the Koll's price anywayBlushing It certainly needs a price leap for me to consider any return on it. Maybe if Herr Koll is watching ebay.de then you may see in his next edition a rise as there were two of these for sale recently and both went for a lot more than the current book price.OhMyGod

As I write the poll is equal so that doesn't help meLOL

Do I get my enjoyment from seeing the mint and boxed article or seeing it as part of the 4024 going through Bayern NeustadtConfused Decisions; decisions; decisions. It's a hard life you know.Wink

I don't get much fun from pristine boxed items, so I probably would fit it.
I can't afford the truly rare items. If I can afford them then I get them to play with them.

Tom

Can you post a photo of the contents?, that would tell much more than the box.

Ie are they on a sprue?, if so then separating them would reduce the value to a collector but if I recall from mine the contents in mine came in plastic bags, but if the bags are sealed.....

Having made the decision do install them, you will preserve the wagon by using a nonpermanent method such as double-sided tape, tiny dab of hot-glue, blu-tak etc, anything that does not leave a trace.

I vote fit them, carefully. :-)

Fit it (carefully), keep the box.

It was made to be fitted. To me this is much like adding a few period upgrades to a classic car. The original owner could have ticked the boxes at the dealer and had them fitted, but didn't. Now you're going to rectify that.
