iTrain looks like a neat system, but one (actually two) points that I obviously missed on the website.

Firstly, what sort of gizmos does one need to connect the computer to the layout? For example, what turns a user command to switch a turnout into an electrical pulse to actuate the turnout?

Secondly, does iTrain run on the iPad?

Thanking you in anticipation...

Hi Gary,
I just took a quick look at the website and for some reason they put the system requirements on the "Downloads" page which is why you may have missed it. It looks like the software talks to a manufacturers controller via serial/usb and that controller talks to the digital decoders on the layout as usual. See "Digital Systems" for a list of list of controllers they support. They also talk a little about Apple products on the Downloads page.
Hope this is of some help and hopefully someone who actually uses it will chime in,
-George

Ha! I should have mentioned that my layout is Z scale analog.

Thanks George.

This will only apply to some controllers, for others such as the CS2 / CS1 / CS1R / Ecos iTrains will talk via the ethernet connection.

Gary, being non digital will be a BIG hurdle to overcome, like climbing Mt Everest in Bare feet.
However back to I train it is good, I like it and withing a few months I will be running the N layout with it.
yes it can be controlled via an Ipad that talks to the computer.

Thanks Nev. I'd be interested to read your experiences running the N layout with iTrain.

Gary all will be revealed. all things being equal track laying begins Sunday or Monday.

Initial plans call for getting all running using the Ecos then Itrain.
