Nice loco, but I think I'll pass it up. I could get some weathering paints and make my 37925 Br41 look like this one, for only a few dollars!

How does the price of €479.95 compare to the unweathered version?

OK, (to answer my own question BigGrin ) according to the Markin shop the unweathered version is €429.95, so €50 cheaper.

I think I might be willing to pay an extra €50 to have a more exclusive version with factory weathering and a display stand.

On the other hand, I already have a Br41, the older 3792. Maybe I'll wait and see what the other 5 locos in the series will be.

Only 50 Euros more for a wooden board with K track and the weathering. RRP for 37925 and 37927 is € 429.95.

But due to over-production, 37925 is available for about € 260 new from several dealers (the version with sound is cheaper than the version without sound).
37927 is an MHI item with best offers around € 350.

3792 is the old mould and shows a different prototype version (old boiler). The models discussed here are a new mould and represent the prototype loco with new boiler.
Regards
Tom

Yes, I know, Tom, but with so many loco types that I still don't have in my collection I am reluctant to get another Br41. I still don't have a Br 55 so maybe a weathered version of a Br55 might be more attractive to me.

Hand-made weathering, so every loco will be a bit unique. As in the past, some will be dirtier than others.

No Tom.
They made a weathered version of the green bay. Gt 2x4/4, #37969. Some were rather brown, others were nearly black.
I presume they apply weathering with an airbrush - and the result depends on who is using the airbrush and how s/he is feeling.
I can't speak for the 37922, but with other weathered M* models some were dirtier than others.

Regards
Tom

That was NOT an attack on you or your opinion,.....sorry if I came off that way,...Sad

M is going to limit these loks to what?500?1,500+2,000+ world wide?Than they can not be hand painted,airbrushed,yes,....great collectors items to be sure.

Well,I shut the f***up then!ThumpUp

€409,95 now on eBay

http://www.ebay.de/itm/M...3a76815bc1#ht_759wt_1021

+ several on auction

It does seem a lot of money to me though, but then the List Price on many Märklin steamers seem to be hitting the €400 - €449,95 mark now.

According to a post on Stummi's Forum, some of the 37922 locos have an incorrect number on the loco (41 354) and the correct number on the tender (41 069).
One chap says he saw two locos with incorrect numbers at his dealer's.

Yea, that's me allright. Some 50% (or more) of these models got the (wrongly printed) cabin of the 37927 (41 356).
You can see pictures of both models on my site in the PictureBook.

Kind regards,

You were #2. The other person reported two misprinted locos at his dealer, you saw one misprinted version at your dealer (and even took pictures - thanks for the excellent pictures).
So far three misprinted locos are known, so probably this misprint is very rare.

Those three locos got the wrong cab, locos have the correct number at the front and on the tender.

Hello Robert.

Have you had a chance to run it with some wagons, or open it up? Impressions?

I posted some questions about the new HEM here:

Thomas,

I had to take up part of my floor bahn for the holidays so my 89 yo father wouldn't trip over it, but I had to set up a small oval last week and while it was up, I did run a few of my new locos including the 37922.I did not run it with any cars but the radius was R1 and if I remember, it ran very smooth. I did not open it up. I am busy with some projects that need to get done, but if I find time to open it up and take some pictures, are you interested?

Thomas,

Don't know how good these photos are, but here they are. The motor's worm gear is definitely metal. The idler gear between the motor and the chassis looks like a typical Marklin gear ... bronze?? I could not see the gear in the chassis and wasn't about to taking it apart to get to it. I have to assume it too is metal. Hope this helps ...
