Welcome to the forum, Piet. I love your layout, there's lots of interesting detail and scenes. You have some of the buildings I intend to use on my layout, so that gives me some ideas. Is the Bonn station the Faller or Kibri kit?

Hi Dale
Did you succeed or still no access.
kabelfoon.nl dóesn't exist anymore. If you try to look for www.kabelfoon.nl you will be rerouted to www.caiway.nl. The old name still exists, so we don't to change outr webaddress (again).
Maybe the counter or the pop-up (latest changes) cause problems. Maybe try the tour section directly(http://home.kabelfoon.nl/~pabrijs/pabtour0.htm)

I can get to www.kabelfoon.nl (displays a page about caiway) OK

But http://home.kabelfoon.nl/~pabrijs gives me: Cannot find server or DNS Error (even without any pop blocker)
http://home.kabelfoon.nl/ also fails

I can get to www.caiway.nl OK so I tried http://www.caiway.nl/~pabrijs but that does not exist.
I tried home.caiway.nl and that says that Kabelfoon no longer exists! and redirects me to www.caiway.com

Can you tell me the real URL within caiway ?

Hi Dale
Maybe use http://home.kabelfoon.nl/~pabrijs/index.html
When I clicked on that link, I got my website. On the other side, the original link worked fine for me too.
Another trick maybe:
Search in google for Piet Brijs. My site happens to be the first hit for those search arguments. It's a detour, but maybe it helps.

A while ago I bought the "Wild lupines" from Busch (art# HO 1217).
You have to build those yourself. I had to use a large magnifying glass, but the result is very nice.
After planting the lupines on my lay-out I made some pictures of the lupines and the earlier planted fungi to show the result.

For more pictures of my lay-out, see my homepage.

Great pictures and great idea with lupins [:p] (besides I love them so much even if in Italy they don't grow [:(])

I love also this tall grass... did you use some electrostatic genenrator such as grasmaster to have it planted.... vertical?

Since the camera was in place for the wild lupines I tried some night shots.
I used an exposure time of 10 seconds and 30 seconds for the second one. Aperture value f/14. Iso 200. And of course I used a tripod and a remote control for the camera.
In both cases I switched off the light after about 5 and 10 seconds. To prevent the lights from being dominating. You need to make a number of shots. The room wasn't complete dark. For the second picture I left the door a very little bit open to let some light slip in.

When I was shopping at my local shop I found the new Busch pinetrees.
Decided to buy the trees. That's the nice thing of a shop, you can stumble accross items you want to buy. Of course, it can hurt your wallet. :-)
Here two pictures of the trees. In the "forest" with some older trees.
The pinetrees have a powdered coating on the tree-trunk. Looks very realistic.

After the lupines I bought some other flowers from Busch. I added dahlias, sunflowers and roses to my lay-out.

First the old house with the old Kittel passing by.

Very nice details on your layout world! You detail a lot in the way I do. I noticed the deer horn rack above the chalet cottage entrance, the vintage Mercedes' headlights even.
Have you hand painted any figures? I have, not only to save money, but our long winters offer a lot of inside time to kill. It has also helped me focus my eyes for close scale work.
In my Mercedes dealership, there is a woman vacuming the floor with a Meile blue canister that I fashoned out of plastic. I used thin medical I.V. tubing for the hose, and curved flagpoles from a faller kit for the wand.
For the power nozzel, a computer keyboard from a faller kit, filed to a thinner profile.

I painted a few figures, but most of them went from the shop directly to the lay-out. Except the passengers in the trains, I have to cut of their feet. [}:)]. We seem to have no long winters in Holland anymore. Smile

More detailling was a logical next step after I finished the "railroad works". Lots of inspiration everywhere.

<br />Welcome to the forum, Piet. I love your layout, there's lots of interesting detail and scenes. You have some of the buildings I intend to use on my layout, so that gives me some ideas. Is the Bonn station the Faller or Kibri kit?

Thank you for your nice words
I have the Kibri station, the Kibri building is larger and more like the original building

The Kibri version of Bonn station is cheaper too. The Faller version retails here for about $NZ180. I got the Kibri version from johnvandame (ebay retailer) for $NZ100. I also have the 'Rathaus' that you have in your Bonn city.
